Which Country Will Host The UEFA Women’s Euros In 2029?

So, now the dust is settling on the Lionesses dramatic Euro win in 2025 – many football fans will be wondering who will host the UEFA Women’s Euro 2029 in four year’s time? 

Six Countries In The Hunt Of Being UEFA Woman’s Euro 2029 Hosts

Switzerland did a fantastic job of running Euro 2025 – but they will now hand the baton over to another country, with the next installment in four years.

But at this stage the UEFA Women’s Euro 2029 hosts have not been confirmed.

Meaning the holders England won’t know at this stage where they will start their Euro title defense.

There are, however, SIX countries that have thrown their hats into the 20229 Women’s Euro hosting ring.

Including Italy, who the Lionesses beat in their Euro 2025 semi-final before seeing of Spain on penalties in the final in Basel.

• Poland
• Portugal
• Germany
• Italy

These five Women’s Euro 2029 bids (six countries) all made the deadline of September 24th 2024 – but must now wait to see who has got the gig.

What Are Hosting Requirements?

The 2029 UEFA Women’s Euro Championships is likely to follow the same format as 2025.

Which will see 31 games in total, over a 25-day period – with 16 teams involved.

The countries that are then looking to become the 2029 UEFA Woman’s Euro hosts will then have to adhere to the following.

• Minimum of ONE stadium with a seating capacity of at least 50,000 (to host final)
• Minimum of THREE stadiums with seating capacity of at least 30,000
• Minimum of FOUR stadiums with seating capacity of 20,000
• FOUR high-quality training facilities at each stadium
• FOUR hotels near/situated at each stadium
• ALL stadiums must have a natural grass playing surface

The bidding process was confirmed on 23rd July 2024.

When Will The Winning Bid Be Confirmed For 2029?

With Sweden/Denmark, Italy, Germany, Portugal and Poland having all now submitted Euro 2029 bids – many will want to know when the final decision is made.

The answer is in December 2025 – but as this stage not specific date in December has been given.

The 2029 Women’s Euro host bidding timeline was as follows – you can see it’s now at the final stages.

• 24th Sept 2024 – Deadline for countries to confirm their Euro 2029 bids
• 1st Oct 2024 – Bid published to other interested bidders
• 12th March 2025 – The submission of first bid dossier
• 28th Aug 2025 – The submission of final bid dossier
• December 2025 – UEFA Women’s Euro host announced

Have Any Of The 2029 Women’s Euro Bidders Entertained Before?

One factor that might come into play for UEFA is if a country has hosted the Women’s Euros in the past.

Some may argue that if a country hasn’t entertained this would give them a better chance.

While others might suggest previous experience of hosting is also a big plus – showing they’ve done it before.

Of the six final bidding countries left – Portugal and Poland – are yet to host, with the first Women’s Euros in 1984.

While Denmark, Sweden, Germany and Italy all have – with Sweden the most experienced of those left with two past hostings.
