As the two best golfers in the world, fans want to know whether or not Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy will be teeing it up at the 2025 Tour Championship this week in the final FedEx Cup play-off event and PGA Tour end of season finale.

Both Scheffler and McIlroy currently head the FedEx Cup standings in first and second place, with both multiple major winners looking to finish the season with another FedEx Cup to their name.

Is Scottie Scheffler In Action At The Tour Championship This Week?

The PGA Tour season is set to come to a close this weekend, as the FedEx Cup finale of the Tour Championship takes centre-stage at East Lake Golf Club.

The top 30 players in the FedEx Cup standings are all set to feature in Atlanta, Georgia this week, battling it out golfing supremacy at the season-long play-off event.

With that in mind, world number one and current FedEx Cup no.1 Scottie Scheffler is indeed in action at the 2025 Tour Championship. Not only is Scheffler teeing it up at East Lake, but he is favourite with golf betting sites to win a second FedEx Cup too.

The four-time major champion won his first FedEx Cup last year, clinching victory at the 2024 Tour Championship on a score of -30. This year, Scheffler has once again dominated the PGA Tour, capturing a whole host of tournaments as well as two majors in 2025 as well.

Now, Scheffler aims to cap it all off with back-to-back Tour Championship victories and successive FedEx Cup triumphs. There hasn’t be a back-to-back FedEx Cup winner since it’s inception in 2007, with the 29-year-old aiming to become the first man in history to win two FedEx Cup’s in a row.

With the changes to the Tour Championship this year, Scheffler won’t start any shots ahead of his rivals like years gone by. Instead, the 2025 Tour Championship is a straight 72-hole stroke-play shoot-out to see who is crowned the FedEx Cup winner and Tour Championship victor for 2025.

If Scheffler can go back-to-back this week, not only would he create golf history but he would also take home the top purse of $10m as part of the $40m Tour Championship prize money that’s on offer this week at East Lake GC.

Is Rory McIlroy Playing At The 2025 Tour Championship?

One man who will be desperate to stop Scheffler from winning back-to-back FedEx Cup’s is five-time major champion Rory McIlroy.

The Northern Irishman currently sits at no.2 in the FedEx Cup standings, and is capable of making his own golfing history this week at the Tour Championship.

If McIlroy wins and stops Scheffler, he would become the first man in history to win four FedEx Cup’s. McIlroy already has three FedEx Cup titles, which is one more than the great Tiger Woods achieved. That being said, it only started in 2007.

If career Grand Slam winner McIlroy can triumph at the Tour Championship this week, it would certainly further add to his legacy as one of the greatest golfers of all time.

With Scheffler having no scoring advantage due to the new Tour Championship format, this could prove vital for the 36-year-old as he aims to pip the world number one to the season-long FedEx Cup title.

Both McIlroy and Scheffler are in action at the 2025 Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club this week. Rest assured you’ll see both their names at the top of the leaderboard come Sunday too.

Not only that, but both Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy are the two outright favourites to reign supreme and claim the Tour Championship title come Sunday evening.
