The 2025 St Leger betting odds were shaken up this week, with the market leader Scandinavia firming up as favourite – without even running.
Scandinavia Shortens In St Leger Betting After Derby Hero Lamborn Flops At York
Last month’s Goodwood Cup winner Scandinavia is now as short as 8/11 (best-princed Evs) for the St Leger – the final English Classic of the season – after his nearest rival in the market Lambourn flopped at York.
Having won both the Epsom and Irish Derby earlier this season, Lambourn was sent off the short 4/5 favourite with the horse racing betting sites for the Great Voltigeur at York.
However, never really looked at home and eventually trailed in fifth – with Dante winner Pride Of Arras bouncing back to form to win at 12/1.
As a result, the 2025 St Leger betting odds on Scandinavia were shortened by all the leading bookmakers – and is now looking likely to go off odds on for the September 13th race at Doncaster.
While Lamborn’s St Leger price has drifted from 7/2 out to 7/1.
Scandinavia will be looking to become the first Goodwood Cup winner to ever win the St Leger. With most winners taking in races like the Great Voltigeur and Gordon Stakes before heading to Donny.
In the last 23 runnings of the St Leger, the race has produced 10 winning favourites (or joint) – including 50% in the last six years.

Aidan O’Brien Has Won The St Leger EIGHT Times
The good news for trainer Aidan O’Brien, is that despite Lambourn’s drift in the St Leger betting market after that poor run at the York Ebor Festival – he also trains Scandinavia.
O’Brien also has a top record in the St Leger with eight wins – but is still way off the record haul of 16 wins from John Scott in the 1800’s.
The last two runnings of the St Leger have also gone to Aidan O’Brien with Jan Brueghel and Continuous.
