Rumours of a Floyd Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao rematch are gathering momentum for 2026, but Amir Khan wants to hijack the fight and face Pacquiao himself.
The former unified super-lightweight champion has called Pacquiao out for ‘one final dance’ amid speculation that Mayweather vs Pacquiao 2 is edging closer.
Amir Khan Calls Out Manny Pacquiao
Former unified world light-welterweight champion Amir Khan has called out Manny Pacquiao, despite the eight-division world champion being in talks over a possible Floyd Mayweather rematch in 2026.
Khan took to social media on Wednesday evening calling for a fight with ‘PacMan’, despite the British boxer having been retired for over three-and-a-half years.
The 38-year-old has shared the ring with several elite fighters at the top of the boxing pound-for-pound rankings over the years, including the likes of Terence Crawford, Canelo Alvarez and Zab Judah to name but a few.
One man Khan hasn’t yet shared the ring with is the great Pacquiao. However, ‘King’ wants to change that next year and has called the Filipino boxing legend out for a 2026 showdown once and for all.
As a retired fighter, Khan has no intention of returning to the ring, unless it is a fight versus Pacquiao. The popular British fighter has admitted that the Pacquiao fight is the only one that would get him out of retirement, also saying that it’s ‘what the fans always wanted’.
It seems Khan’s call out of Pacquiao is a total long shot, given the fact that ‘PacMan’ returned to competition this year and ran Mario Barrios close for the WBC World Welterweight Title. In fact, many people feel Pacquiao actually did enough to beat Barrios despite not getting the decision.
Now, the 46-year-old looks like he will continue fighting, and has even revealed he is in talks over a potential rematch with former foe Floyd Mayweather. However, Khan is trying to hijack that fight in an attempt to face ‘PacMan’ instead.
LETS GO @MannyPacquiao I’m up for one final dance but only with you as my partner. You’re still talking rematch with Floyd? Let’s make OUR fight that never happened. This is the ONLY one that gets me out of retirement – it’s what the fans always wanted 🤔 pic.twitter.com/NYSFRP5tsJ

Floyd Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao 2 ‘Almost’ Agreed
Despite Amir Khan’s best intentions of landing a super-fight with Manny Pacquiao, it seems his wishes won’t be granted.
This is due to the fact that Pacquiao is reportedly in active talks over a rematch with fellow multi-weight world champion Floyd Mayweather.
Pacquiao and Mayweather fought in a bout billed ‘Fight of the Century’ back in 2015, with Mayweather winning via unanimous decision after 12 rounds of boxing.
The fight came 5-10 years too late, when both men were past their best and nearing retirement. That being said, both men have continued fighting into their 40s.
Mayweather has had several exhibition bouts against the likes of Logan Paul and Deji, and is even scheduled to face the great Mike Tyson next year in another exhibition contest.
Pacquiao , who is one of the most followed boxers on Instagram, on the other hand has continued to fight in real pro boxing, even at the age of 46 now.
The Filipino multi-weight world champion did retire back in 2021, but returned earlier this year to face Mario Barrios for the WBC World Welterweight Title.
Now, it seems that Mayweather vs Pacquiao 2 is genuinely in negotiations, with ‘PacMan’ revealing in a recent interview that both parties are actively ‘co-ordinating’ over a potential rematch over 10 years on from their ‘Fight of the Century’.
It remains to be seen whether the Mayweather vs Pacquiao rematch gets made, or whether it is all hype and has no real legitimacy to it.
Whatever happens, it seems boxing fans are going to be seeing Manny Pacquiao at least once more in 2026, whether that be against Floyd Mayweather or indeed Amir Khan.
