Fenerbahce Ademola Lookman

Turkish Super Lig giants Fenerbahce are interested in signing Atalanta winger Ademola Lookman following his impressive performances for Nigeria at AFCON.

Fenerbahce Eye Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman

Atalanta winger Ademola Lookman is being linked with a January move to Fenerbahce.

The 28-year-old is currently away at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) with Nigeria, where he has starred as one of the standout players, helping his side to reach the semi-finals.

Eric Chelle’s men face tournament hosts Morocco for a place in the final on Wednesday.

Lookman scored in both of his group stage appearances against Tanzania and Tunisia, while he also scored in the Super Eagles’ 4-0 battering of Mozambique in the round of 16.

Additionally, he has tallied four assists – the most of any player to appear at AFCON this year.

Off the back of his excellent showings at the tournament, reports from Italy and Turkey are once again linking him with a move to the recently crowned Turkish Super Cup champions.

While it has been suggested that Atalanta do not wish to sell Lookman this winter, if they are to part ways with him, they reportedly prefer a straight sale rather than a structured deal.

La Dea value the Charlton Athletic academy graduate at around €45m (£39m).

Fenerbahce, meanwhile, are proposing a staggered deal. They want to sign Lookman on an initial loan for €5m (£4.35m), with a purchase clause worth €37m (£32.1m) included.

It is said that Fener are offering Lookman a salary package worth an estimated €9m (£7.8m) per season. This is a significant increase from his current €2.5m (£2.17m) salary in Bergamo.

Lookman is reportedly open to a move to Turkey this month after returning from AFCON.

Their interest in the 39-time Nigeria international comes following the high-profile acquisition of Matteo Guendouzi. The Frenchman joined from Lazio for €29m (£25.15m) last week.

Lookman Previously Linked With Galatasaray

This isn’t the first time that Lookman has been linked with a move to the Turkish Super Lig, as he was previously rumoured to be of interest to one of Fenerbahce’s archrivals – Galatasaray.

The Turkish champions have been unable to secure his signature, however, with Fener now looking to pounce where their local rivals look to have failed.

Elsewhere, Lookman has been linked with a whole host of Premier League sides.

Newcastle were linked with Lookman last year, while Tottenham, Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal and Aston Villa have all been touted as potential destinations for the winger.

Top European sides such as Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid, Juventus, Roma, Napoli and Inter Milan have also previously been linked with moves for Lookman.

Fenerbahce now seemingly lead the way for his signature, as they look to add quality to their squad amid their bid for a first Turkish top-flight title success since the 2013-14 season.
