Everton vs Tottenham Player Ratings: Iliman Ndiaye And Dominic Calvert-Lewin Magical In Toffees Win
Here’s our Everton vs Tottenham player ratings as the Toffees edged past Spurs in a five goal thriller at Goodsion Park on Sunday.
Tottenham Fight Back Late But Lose Five Goal Thriller
Everton had their biggest lead this season at half time on Sunday, with three early goals putting them in a commanding position heading down the tunnel.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored the first for Everton, with the Englishman clearly relieved after ending a goal drought that extended back to September of last year.
Iliman Ndiaye scored a second for the Toffees shortly after with a beautiful, weaving run and Everton were out of sight by half time as Archie Gray deflected a clearance into his own net.
Tottenham were able to fight back late and make the scoreline look slightly less damning, but late finishes from Dejan Kulusevski and former blue Richarlison weren’t enough, as Spurs dropped to 15th in the Premier League table.

Everton Player Ratings
Jordan Pickford – 7
Wasn’t given much to do in goal throughout the game but was at fault for the first Tottenham goal as he rushed out and left an open net for Kulusevski to score.
Jake O’Brien – 7.5
A good performance from the youngster on his first Premier League start, giving away no chances to a tricky attack on his full debut.
James Tarkowski – 8
Almost got on the end of a set piece to increase Everton’s lead only to be denied by the goalkeeper, defensively sound at the back leading the back line well.
Jarrad Branthwaite – 7
Did well to move the ball up the field when in possession, stepped up in the times and places he was needed. Another solid 90 minutes from the centre half.
Vitalii Mykolenko – 6.5
Only criticism was that he could’ve got more involved going forward but other than that it was another solid display from the Ukrainian.
Orel Mangala – 7
Was only denied a goal by the post, looked good in possession and kept the Spurs midfield quiet until right at the end of the game.
Idrissa Gueye – 9
Picked up two assists and dominated in midfield, Sarr and Bergval looked lost coming up against the Senegalese star who was man of the match.
Abdoulaye Doucouré – 8
One of the sharpest players on the pitch in the first half, his energy early in the game was key in helping Everton get ahead in the first half.
Iliman Ndiaye – 9
Lively throughout the contest and he always posed a threat to the Spurs defence, his beautiful solo goal was comfortably the best moment of the game for either team.
“That’s a MAGIC moment.” 🪄

Jesper Lindstrøm – 7
One of his most encouraging performances so far in an Everton shirt, although employed as a wing back there wasn’t much defending to be dne and he impressed in the final third.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin – 8
Finally ended his goal drought with some lovely footwork in the box leaving the Tottenham defence in a daze. Too many fouls leading to a yellow card prevented rating from being any higher.

Tottenham Player Ratings
Antonín Kinský – 5
Conceded three goals however can’t be to blame for both Gray and Calvert-Lewin finishes, could have done better on the Ndiaye goal – frustrating afternoon.
Archie Gray – 4
Not much he could’ve done for the own goal but never got into the game and was sat down by Calvert-Lewin when trying to defend his goal.
Radu Drăgușin – 5
Struggled to contain Calvert-Lewin in most of the first half and didn’t come out for the second period after picking up a suspected knock.
Ben Davies – 5.5
Played a couple of nice balls forward throughout the match, did well all things considered in his first appearance back from injury since the 5th of December.
Pedro Porro – 5
Looked good going forward but struggled to contain Ndiaye off the left wing and could have done more defensively to stop two of the goals.
Djed Spence – 6.5
Did well to play out of position again and contained Jesper Lindstrøm well. Given a chance back on the right Spence could be good again, but it will be hard to take Porro’s spot.
Pape Matar Sarr – 4
The Everton midfield ran Sarr ragged on Sunday afternoon and he was one of the worst players on the pitch despite covering every inch of the field.
Lucas Bergvall – 5
As always gave his 100% but failed to make as much of an impact as usual in a midfield that struggled without Yves Bissouma and Rodrigo Bentancur.
James Maddison – 3
Not the James Maddison that Tottenham fans have grown to know and love, the midfielder ghosted for much of the game and failed to make any sort of impact going forward.
Dejan Kulusevski – 7
Tottenham’s best player by some way, his goal was deserved and a classy finish over the top of Pickford continued the Swede’s good form this year.
Son Heung-min – 4
Had the best opportunities for Spurs apart from the goals, tested Pickford twice with shots but never looked likely to score on another difficult afternoon for the forward whose struggles this year go hand in hand with Tottenham’s.
