The 2025 FedEx St Jude Championship prize money on offer this week is $20m, plateauing for the third consecutive season. The total St Jude Championship purse has increased by $11.75m in just 10 years.
Below we have outlined the FULL purse breakdown for all 70 players who will earn some form of prize money at TPC Southwind this week in the first FedEx Cup play-off event of the PGA Tour season.
$20M Worth Of FedEx St Jude Championship Prize Money On Offer This Week In First FedEx Cup Playoff Event
This week sees the FedEx St Jude Championship take centre-stage on the PGA Tour in what is the first FedEx Cup play-off event as we embark on the final few weeks of the golf season.
Last week it was Cameron Young who dominated at the Wyndham Championship in the absence of recent Open champion Scottie Scheffler, and career Grand Slam winner Rory McIlroy.
Now, the St Jude Championship sees the top 70 best players over the course of the season compete at TPC Southwind. All 70 players are set to earn some form of prize money, with the top 50 in the FedEx Cup standings after the tournament progressing to the BMW Championship next week.
McIlroy is one notable omission from the St Jude Championship this week, but is set to be back in action next week for the final two events of the year as he chases a fourth FedEx Cup victory.
World number one Scottie Scheffler, who is the outright favourite to win this week with all golf betting sites, currently leads the FedEx Cup standings by a substantial margin. He also won the season-long event last year, aiming to go back-to-back come the Tour Championship in a fortnight’s time.
As the first FedEx Cup play-off event, the St Jude Championship prize money is one of the biggest on the PGA Tour. A $20m purse is set to be split between all 70 players in action this week at TPC Southwind in Memphis. This $20m purse is the same as it was in both 2023 and 2024.
Last year it was Hideki Matsuyama who reigned supreme at the FedEx St Jude Championship on a score of -17 par. This year, he aims to go back-to-back but is up against it with the likes of Scheffler, Justin Thomas, Xander Schauffele and co in action.
St Jude Championship Winners Purse Remains At $3.6M For Third Consecutive Year
Whoever goes on to lift the trophy come Sunday will be in for a bumper payday and large share of the FedEx St Jude Championship prize money pot for the 2025 showing of this PGA Tour event.
Whoever clinches victory come Sunday evening will leave TPC Southwind with an extra $3,600,000 in the bank, with the runner-up also pocketing a tidy $2,160,000.
This $20m purse is one of the biggest on the PGA Tour and is even more lucrative than some of the major championships. Even the player that finishes in 70th place will be guaranteed a payday of $40,000. Not bad for four days of work!
This comes after the Wyndham Championship prize money increased for a fourth successive year in last week’s PGA Tour event.
FedEx St Jude Championship Prize Money Has Increased By $11.75M In The Last 10 Years
With the total prize pot for this year’s FedEx St Jude Championship remaining at $20m for a third straight year, this means that there has been an increase of precisely $11.75m since Jason Day won the event back in 2015.
When Australia’s Day won the tournament a decade ago, the total purse was just $8.25m. This means Day, who is inside the top 20 highest earning golfers of all time, pocketed $1,485,000 in prize money for his six-stroke victory.
From 2016 to 2020, the purse then increased steadily by $250,000 each year. The 2021 St Jude Championship (The Northern Trust before it changed name) purse stayed at $9.5m when Tony Finau won it, before a huge increase in 2022.
Will Zalatoris’ victory at the 2022 event saw him pocket $2.7m of the total $15m prize money on offer. This then increased to $20m in 2023, and has remained the same ever since.
Next year may well see an increase in funds once again, but no official announcement has been made on that just yet.
