PSV vs Juventus Champions League Preview

PSV welcome Juventus in the second leg of the Champions League playoff tie, and we have a preview and prediction for Wednesday’s match, as well as all the latest team news and predicted lineups.

PSV vs Juventus Preview

Separated by just one goal after last week’s first leg, PSV Eindhoven and Juventus will battle it out in the Champions League playoff second leg on Wednesday.

Juventus earned a 2-1 victory in Turin, securing their second win over PSV this season. A third triumph would confirm their place in the last 16 of the competition.

PSV came close to a draw in the first leg but ultimately fell short despite an equaliser from Ivan Perisic, who became the club’s oldest scorer in the Champions League.

However, substitute Samuel Mbangula’s late strike ensured Juve took a narrow advantage into the return leg.

PSV have struggled in the knockout rounds of UEFA’s top competition, having last progressed after losing a first leg back in 2007 against Arsenal.

However, they can take confidence from their impressive 12-game unbeaten home run in European competitions, including recent wins against Girona, Shakhtar Donetsk, and Liverpool.

Meanwhile, Juventus have drawn their last three Champions League away games, with another stalemate being enough to secure their progression.

Historically, the Bianconeri have been dominant when winning the first leg, advancing from their last 20 European Cup or Champions League knockout ties in such circumstances – a run dating back to 1979.

Juventus have recently shaken off a mid-season slump, winning four consecutive matches, including a crucial Derby d’Italia victory over Inter Milan.

With momentum on their side, Juve will be eager to finish the job in Eindhoven.

PSV vs Juventus Team News

PSV will be without Ricardo Pepi, who has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a knee injury. Fellow USA internationals Sergino Dest and Malik Tillman remain long-term absentees. Full-backs Rick Karsdorp and Olivier Boscagli are also unlikely to feature due to injury concerns.

Manager Peter Bosz will have to reshuffle his squad, with Mauro Junior, Richard Ledezma, and Manchester United loanee Tyrell Malacia competing for starting spots. Star striker Luuk de Jong will lead the attack, supported by Johan Bakayoko and Ismael Saibari.

As for Juventus, manager Thiago Motta is expected to make some tweaks to his lineup, with Manuel Locatelli, Kenan Yildiz, and Andrea Cambiaso pushing for starts.

Dusan Vlahovic remains out of favor, meaning Randal Kolo Muani will spearhead the attack. The French forward has been in red-hot form since joining on loan from PSG, scoring five goals in five appearances.

Bremer, Juan Cabal, and Arkadiusz Milik remain sidelined, while Pierre Kalulu and Douglas Luiz are still recovering from injuries.

PSV vs Juventus Predicted Lineups

PSV predicted lineup:

PSV vs Juventus Prediction

PSV’s impressive record at home should see them put up a strong fight, but Juventus’ experience in navigating European knockout ties could prove decisive.

While the Dutch side are priced as slight favourites with the UK’s best betting sites and are likely to find the net given Juve’s defensive frailties away from home, the attacking quality of Motta’s side should be enough to secure at least a draw, ensuring their progression to the last 16.

Prediction: PSV 1-1 Juventus
