Rafael Nadal Gives Surprising Opinion On Jannik Sinner

The Spanish tennis icon announced his retirement from the sport in October 2024 and played his last professional match in the following month.

Despite this delve into other sports Nadal has still kept up to date with current events in tennis and recently expressed his thoughts on major stars – including Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz.

Sinner has endured a difficult time in recent months, being suspended from the sport after failing two doping tests in March 2024.

The Italian was initially cleared of any breaches, however, after further investigation from the International Tennis Integrity Agency and WADA he was handed a three-month suspension which ends on May 4th.

Nadal gave his overall thoughts on the World No.1 and claimed Sinner is a good guy who has done well given his recent situation.

Nadal said (Via Andy Roddick Podcast): “Jannik is another good guy. Not much of a show off. He’s focused on what he’s doing. Of course, he went through a very tough process the last year. It’s amazing the way he was able to keep being focused on what he’s doing.

“It’s a new generation of great tennis players. I think they’re going to keep helping this beautiful sport to grow and to engage fans.”

What Did Nadal Say About Carlos Alcaraz?

Nadal also spoke on his fellow countryman and two-time Wimbledon winner, Carlos Alcaraz, who is currently the World No.3.

Alcaraz and Nadal teamed up in the 2024 Olympics for Spain in the doubles tournament and were eliminated by the United States in the quarter finals.

The tennis legend spoke about Alcaraz as a person and how the people behind the youngster have made a huge impact on his success.

“Carlos is a great kid. Great guy with a very good family behind him, with positive values. Humble. They’re good people. That’s true.

“That’s why I think Carlos is how he is. Because in the end, the values you receive at home, the way you’re educated is the way that you show up.”
