Join us as we outline a handful of key fighters to keep an eye out for and tune in to watch at UFC Fight Night this weekend.
Fighters To Watch At UFC Fight Night: Garcia vs Onama
UFC Fight Night: Garcia vs Onama is just days away as Dana White brings this weekend’s show to the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
The main event sees the #13 and #13 ranked UFC featherweight contenders collide in what is a real 50/50 affair, with the winner in a strong position going into 2025 for some mega-fights at 145-pounds.
There are also several other intriguing battles on both the main card and prelims, with several ranked fighters in action across multiple weight divisions.
None of the top 25 most followed UFC fighters are in action this weekend in Vegas, but there are a whole host of top prospects and future title contenders on the card.
With that in mind, here at SportsCasting we have outlined five fighters to watch this weekend featuring on the UFC Fight Night 263 show.
This includes both fighters in the main event, a heavyweight contender with frightening power and two female fighters on the preliminary card too.
So without further ado, here are five fighters to keep and eye on this weekend at the UFC Fight Night: Garcia vs Onama show at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
UFC Fighters To Watch This Weekend
Steve Garcia
You can’t talk about UFC Fight Night: Garcia vs Onama this weekend without mentioning the main event combatants themselves. First up, the #12 ranked featherweight contender Steve Garcia.
The American is set for his 10th UFC fight this weekend, and is currently riding a six-fight winning streak. Of these six consecutive victories, Garcia has won five via knockout with just one going the distance.
Three of his last six fights have resulted in UFC bonuses, with a ‘Performance of the Night’ bonus for all three knockouts over Chase Hooper, Choi Seung-woo and Kyle Nelson.
Garcia boasts 14 knockouts in his 18 victories, and could be one of the hardest hitters in the featherweight division.
He holds a record for the fourth most consecutive knockouts in UFC history (5), and will be looking to get back on the knockout streak at UFC Fight Night 263 this weekend after a decision victory over Calvin Kattar last time out.
Be sure to keep an eye out for Steve Garcia as one of the UFC fighters to watch this weekend at UFC fight Night: Garcia vs Onama.
David Onama
The other main event combatant this weekend at UFC Fight Night 263 is Ugandan MMA star David Onama.
The 31-year-old is a marginal underdog against Steve Garcia, but is a competent fighter and one certainly worth keeping an eye on this weekend.
Onama signed to the UFC with an 8-0 MMA record, but has since lost twice in his eight fights since. That being said, Onama is on a four fight winning run of his own, which includes a victory over Giga Chikadze last time out too.
The #13 ranked 145-pounder isn’t as concussive a puncher or clinical a finisher as Garcia, but does have the advantage when it comes down to all-round MMA skills.
If Onama can stay out of trouble, he may well be able to secure the finish of his own either via knockout or submission. If the fight goes the full five rounds too, Onama will fancy his chances over the 25 minutes.
Be sure to watch out for David Onama in the UFC Fight Night main event this weekend in Las Vegas.
Ante Delija
Next up is heavyweight contender Ante Delija, who is currently ranked at #6. The Croatian MMA fighter takes on the #6 ranked Waldo Cortes-Acosta in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night: Garcia vs Onama this weekend.
Delija is making a name for himself in his own right in the heavyweight division, having secured a first round knockout over Marcin Tybura in his UFC debut last time out. One fight in and Delija is ranked inside the top 10 already.
There is clearly a bit of hype surrounding the 35-year-old, who may well be looking a fast-track to the UFC Heavyweight Title. However, if he is granted a shot at UFC gold, it might not be against the current champion Tom Aspinall.
Aspinall and Delija are training partners and teammates, with Aspinall stating in interview that he would vacate the belt if Delija got in a position to fight for it.
Tom Aspinall’s earnings per strike are around £17,850 since making his UFC debut, but the English MMA phenom has no interest whatsoever in fighting his long-term friend and teammate.
Instead, if Delija can secure a second UFC knockout this weekend over Cortes-Acosta and perhaps one more win against someone like Alexander Volkov or Sergei Pavlovich, then he could well get a shot at UFC gold before the end of next year.
With that in mind, it’s definitely worth keeping an eye on Ante Delija this weekend at UFC Fight Night 263.
Ketlen Vieira
Ketlen Vieira finds herself on the UFC Fight Night: Garcia vs Onama preliminary card this weekend, which is a little disrespectful considering she is ranked #15 in the women’s UFC pound-for-pound rankings.
The Brazilian mixed martial artist is ranked #3 in the women’s bantamweight division too, with her only defeat in almost three years coming to the dominant 135-pound queen Kayla Harrison.
The 34-year-old also gave Harrison her toughest fight to date during her UFC tenure, so could well earn a rematch with the American if she puts in an impressive display this weekend at UFC Fight Night 263.
A win here and then a victory over Juliana Pena or a rematch win over Raquel Pennington would undoubtedly earn Vieira a shot at the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Title before the end of next year.
For this reason, Ketlen Vieira is certainly worth keeping an eye on this weekend on the upcoming UFC Fight Night card at the Apex.
Norma Dumont
Last but by no means least, the fifth and final fighter featuring on the UFC Fight Night: Garcia vs Onama card worth watching this weekend is the #4 ranked women’s bantamweight contender Norma Dumont.
Dumont is riding a five-fight win streak right now, and a victory this weekend over Ketlen Vieira will almost guarantee her a shot at Kayla Harrison and the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Title. Perhaps even next.
It mightn’t headline UFC White House on June 14, but if she beats Vieira, Dumont may well get a shot at Harrison and UFC gold on that mammoth show on the South Lawn next summer.
The Brazilian MMA star holds all sorts of records in the UFC right now, which is another reason to keep an eye out for her this weekend at UFC Fight Night 263.
Dumont holds the record for the most wins in women’s featherweight history in the UFC (5), not to mention the most takedowns landed in featherweight history too (9).
She is back competing at bantamweight now though, and has looked good in doing so. She has been inactive of late, having not competed since September 2024. That is the only question mark surrounding the 35-year-old this weekend.
For all of the above reasons, Norma Dumont is certainly worth watching this weekend at UFC Fight Night: Garcia vs Onama.
