Wasn’t the 2021 season supposed to go well for the Cleveland Browns? Instead, the franchise disappointed — yet again — after a promising 3-1 start, finishing with an 8-9 record that left it short of a second consecutive playoff appearance and subjected Baker Mayfield to an offseason filled with trade rumors.

At least the 2022 NFL schedule offers Cleveland a chance at redemption.

Throughout the depth chart, the Browns boast plenty of elite talent. That much is beyond dispute.

Deshaun Watson joined the squad via trade and should serve as the elite option Cleveland has lacked for roughly forever, assuming he’s able to play while still facing 22 active civil suits alleging sexual assault and misconduct. He’s joined by one of the NFL’s best running backs in Nick Chubb, a dynamic wide receiver corps featuring Amari Cooper, Donovan Peoples-Jones, and Anthony Schwartz, and a defense brimming over with star power.

But we’ve heard this story before, and it’s up to the Browns to prove they’ve become something more than paper tigers.
