The Los Angeles Clippers made a big roster move on Monday morning, which could lead to more player acquisitions in the coming days. In a three team trade, the team shipped off second-leading scorer Norman Powell and brought in John Collins, filling their need for a true power forward. But the departure of Powell leaves a hole in their backcourt, and adding more veteran help could be on the horizon.
Could Clippers Bring In Bradley Beal? What About Chris Paul?
Even before the trade was executed, the Clippers were linked to Bradley Beal. With the Phoenix Suns undergoing serious changes this offseason, a potential buyout of Beal’s contract is becoming more likely. The move would make the 32-year-old a free agent, free to negotiate with any team in the league, and it seems as though Los Angeles would be the best fit.
According to multiple reports, there is a mutual interest between the two sides.
The Clippers now have a void at guard ready to be filled by Bradley Beal once he’s officially bought out soon.
Trading Norman Powell to the Heat opens up a significant role within Los Angeles’ rotation for Beal.

With Powell being shipped off, there is now a need for a scoring threat in the backcourt alongside James Harden. Powell averaged nearly 22 points per game last season, and the Clippers will be looking to replace that production before the start of next season.
Beal could very well be the top player that they have in mind. Though he struggled last season by averaging his lowest points per game total since 2014-15, LA believes that the 13-year veteran still has enough juice in the tank to give their team a boost. His time in Phoenix was certainly a bust, as he saw a decrease in his numbers across the board, and was the weak link in the Suns’ attempt at putting together a “Big Three” with Kevin Durant and Devin Booker.
Keep a very close eye on the Clippers not only adding Bradley Beal, once he is bought out by the Suns, but also bringing back Chris Paul for his final NBA season. https://t.co/4YMPVaJiS4

If the Clippers are able to strike a deal with Bradley Beal after he is bought out, it might not be the end of their player additions. With the team in need of a backup point guard, Chris Paul could be one of the options that the team goes after.
Paul spent some of the best years of his career playing in Los Angeles, as he spent six seasons with the Clippers between 2011 and 2017. He is looking for a new team for what will very likely be his final in the NBA, and he could join his old squad if he is willing to sacrifice a bit of playing time in order for a chance to win a championship.
Should the Clippers bring in both Beal and Paul, it would make them one of the oldest teams in the league. Three players in their starting lineup would be older than age 32, with the other two being 27 years old. One of the first guys off of the bench would be Paul, who turned 40 back in May.
