Vikings Wide Receiver Jordan Addison Is Facing A 3-Game Suspension

There are only three NFL players who have caught more touchdown passes over the past two seasons than Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison. But Minnesota might have to miss out on some of that production during the upcoming season, as the 23-year-old is facing a three-game suspension due to a DUI citation.

Vikings WR Facing A 3-Game Suspension For DUI

Just over a year ago, Addison was arrested in Los Angeles on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. He was found by police officers to be asleep at the wheel, and his car was in the middle of the road and blocking traffic lanes. He was able to play during the entirety of the 2024 season, but his court date was set for July 15th, 2025.

Judgment day has come. Depending on the severity of the trial’s verdict, Addison could be forced to miss time during the upcoming season. The NFL has a strict policy that punishes such acts, as the baseline discipline for a first offense DUI is a three-game suspension.

It is not the first time that Addison has gotten into hot water behind the wheel. In the days leading up to training camp for his rookie season, he was cited for reckless driving in Saint Paul. According to reports, he was driving a Lamborghini at 140 miles per hour in a zone that had a speed limit set at 55. He paid a fine of $686 and had his driver’s license revoked for 6 months.

That apparently didn’t stop him from continuing to make poor decisions.

Which Games Would Addison Be Forced To Miss?

What would a suspension mean for Jordan Addison and the Vikings? They would of course still have Justin Jefferson as their main offensive focal point, who is considered one of the three best wide receivers in the league.

But there is a significant drop-off in talent and past production for the rest of the unit without Addison in the mix. Jalen Nailor is listed as the third WR on the depth chart, who caught just 28 passes last season (albeit with 6 touchdowns). The rest of the projected rotation at the position are newcomers, including two free agent signings (Tim Jones & Rondale Moore) and a rookie draft pick (Tai Felton).

Addison would be missing some important games to kick off the season should he be suspended. The Vikings are set to take on the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football during the opening week, and will have a tough test against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 3. A contest against the Atlanta Falcons is sandwiched in between.
