On the day after the 2025 US Open, the final Grand Slam of the year, casual tennis fans may believe the season is over. That is not the case as the Asian swing will begin soon, and the season will conclude in November.
Jack Draper and Ben Shelton are the newsmakers of the day. Both were forced to exit the US Open with injuries, and as it turns out, Draper’s absence from the ATP Tour is going to be much longer than many hoped.

Draper took to social media to announce that his arm injury requires extensive recovery so he is out for the rest of the year. The World No. 7 was in the running for the ATP Finals in Turin, Italy in November (exclusive to the top eight players) so this is unfortunate news.
He was also expected to be one of the “Six Kings” featured in the Saudi Arabian Six Kings Slam.
Draper has dealt with injuries in the past so he is all too familiar with recovering from them.
He finishes the year at 30-9 with the Indian Wells Masters 1000 win in March.
Draper teamed with Jessica Pegula as semifinalists in the 2025 US Open Mixed Doubles Championship.
Ben Shelton ‘Sideline Reporter’
Shelton has been returning the favor as a spectator and cheerleader for girlfriend Trinity Rodman and her Washington Spirit team.
While she was injured, she traveled with and supported him.
Now that his shoulder injury is deemed significant enough to sideline him from Davis Cup and Laver Cup events later this month, he has been spotted at her games.
On Sunday, he was given a headset and interviewed her after the game. Agains this was returning the favor of when she asked him a question at a US Open press conference.
My, my how the tables have turned 🤣

They are the cutest American sports couple, and we enjoy seeing them together, but it usually means one is injured which makes it bittersweet.
