Oklahoma QBs Will Be Well Represented In The NFL This Week

Dillon Gabriel was named the starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns on Wednesday. He joins a growing list of former University of Oklahoma signal callers that are taking snaps in the NFL, a group that will have six members during Week 5.

6 Oklahoma Quarterbacks Will Start Week 5 In The NFL

With Gabriel getting the nod, every quarterback that started at Oklahoma from 2015 to 2023 will be starting in the NFL this week:

Baker Mayfield

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

2015-2017 Oklahoma

The oldest of the bunch, Mayfield has had a career resurgence with the Buccaneers. After being jettisoned out of Cleveland and into a backup role with the Carolina Panthers, Mayfield has new life in Tampa, and has been one of the top performing quarterbacks through the first month of the 2025 campaign.

Kyler Murray

Arizona Cardinals

2018 Oklahoma

Some may consider him something of a disappointment thus far, given that Murray was drafted first overall back in 2019. The Cardinals have yet to win a playoff game under his leadership, and he has a 38-47-1 record through the first 86 games of his NFL career.

Jalen Hurts

Philadelphia Eagles

2019 Oklahoma

The most accomplished of the bunch, Hurts spent just one year at Oklahoma after transferring from Alabama. He was picked by the Eagles in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft, and has two Super Bowl appearances and one championship ring. Philadelphia is again one of the teams to beat in 2025.

Spencer Rattler

New Orleans Saints

2020-2021 Oklahoma

Rattler was one of the more highly touted college prospects in recent memory, but his career was mostly a disappointment. He transferred away from Oklahoma after the 2021 season, and was eventually drafted by the Saints in the 5th round in 2023. He has 10 career starts in the NFL over his first two seasons, and has an 0-10 record.

Caleb Williams

Chicago Bears

2021 Oklahoma

He transferred away from Oklahoma and spent his best seasons at USC, but Williams is still an alum. He was picked first overall in 2024 and is still finding his footing with the Bears, and is showing signs of improvement in his second year in the pros.

Dillon Gabriel

Cleveland Browns

2022-2023 Oklahoma

Gabriel finished his collegiate career at Oregon, but he had arguably his best year at Oklahoma in 2023. With Joe Flacco struggling and the Browns at 1-3, Cleveland had named Gabriel the starter for Week 5, making him the 6th Sooners QB to be under center during Week 5.
