If you’ve been riding my betting picks for Week 1 of the new NFL season, you’re feeling pretty good on this fine Monday morning. Not only did we go 6-0 in best bets on Sunday, but we also hit Gabriel Davis at 10/1 odds to score the first touchdown in the season opener between the Buffalo Bills and the Los Angeles Rams.

I’m looking to finish off Week 1 with a bang, so you know we’re running it back with some first touchdown scorer picks for the Monday Night Football matchup between the Denver Broncos and the Seattle Seahawks. Let’s find another winner, shall we?

Courtland Sutton +850

We don’t know yet who’s going to emerge as Russell Wilson’s favorite target in Denver, but Courtland Sutton has to be the leader in the clubhouse. The fifth-year wide receiver has averaged 15.2 yards per catch throughout his young career, so he should be Wilson’s go-to weapon on those beautiful rainbows he loves to air out down the field.

In his return to Seattle after being traded, Wilson is going to want to send a message early to his former team. I can almost guarantee there’s a deep ball to Sutton planned for the first possession of the game, so let’s hope the new teammates can connect and cash this bet.

Melvin Gordon +900

Everyone is excited for the Javonte Williams show in Denver, and understandably so, but the Broncos aren’t going to stop using Melvin Gordon near the goal line. Gordon and Williams finished last season with the same exact number of carries (203), but the veteran scored twice as many rushing touchdowns (eight) as the talented rookie (four).

This is going to be more of a 50-50 split than fans and fantasy owners expect, and it wouldn’t be surprising if Gordon finished with more touchdowns for the second straight year. So, when I see Williams priced at +700 and Gordon priced at +900 to score the first touchdown Monday night, there’s no question I’m taking the longer odds.

Marquise Goodwin +6000

This Seahawks offense is going to struggle all year with Geno Smith and Drew Lock as its top two options under center. The running game is also impossible to predict in Week 1 with rookie Kenneth Walker questionable to play. So, with unpredictability abound in Seattle, targeting a long shot is the only way to play this team in the first touchdown scorer market.

That brings us to Marquise Goodwin at 60/1 odds.

Goodwin is still one of the fastest players in the NFL, and it’s not out of the realm of possibility that the speedster could get behind this Broncos defense and find the end zone early in the game. The Seahawks are going to need some splash plays to keep up with the Broncos, and Goodwin is the best bet to make one happen.
