Matt Fitzpatrick has been one of the best golfers in the world for some time now. The Englishman just won the 2023 RBC Heritage to notch his second career victory on the PGA Tour, and he’s been ranked inside the top 30 in the Official World Golf Ranking for nearly four years.

But did you know Fitzpatrick has a brother who’s also a professional golfer?

Alex Fitzpatrick, Matt’s younger brother, turned pro in 2022. The Fitzpatrick brothers will be teeing it up together this week at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, so let’s learn a bit more about younger bro.

Is Alex Fitzpatrick a PGA Tour member like his brother?

Alex and Matt Fitzpatrick grew up playing golf together in Sheffield, England. Matt, who’s four years older than his brother, showed more promise as a youngster and eventually made his way to the United States to play at Northwestern University. He then turned pro in 2014 and started splitting his time between the PGA Tour and the European Tour.

Alex took a while to catch up to Matt as a golfer, but he played well enough in England to earn a spot on the Wake Forest University golf team. After spending four years at Wake Forest, he turned pro himself in 2022. The 24-year-old made his PGA Tour debut at the 2022 Valspar Championship, where he missed the cut.

Alex currently plays on the DP World Tour. In 2022, he played in seven DP World Tour events and recorded his best finish (T13) at the Cazoo Open de France. Alex has played in three tournaments this year and recently recorded a T9 at The Challenge presented by KGA in March.

Currently ranked No. 705 in the OWGR, Alex is hoping to join his brother as a full-time member of the PGA Tour soon.

The Fitzpatrick brothers have been playing in different parts of the world for the last year, but they’ll be on the same golf course this week when they team up at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. The Zurich Classic is a unique event on the PGA Tour that features teams of two and alternating rounds of four-ball and foursomes.

Team Fitzpatrick will enter the tournament eighth on the odds board at +2200 to win. With Matt coming off a win last week at the RBC Heritage, the Fitzpatricks will be one of the teams to beat at TPC Louisiana this week.
