LeBron James knows how to move on the basketball court. Couple that with his next-level skillset, and he will easily go down as one of the greatest players in the game’s storied history. At age 35 and retirement in the next decade, could the NBA legend’s recent dance moves in a family video be a precursor of things to come? Could we possibly see James appear on a future season of the popular television show Dancing with the Stars?

LeBron James loves to dance

LeBron James is a fantastic basketball player, but more than that, he’s an entertainer. He understands that. That’s why he puts on a show the moment he steps out of the locker room and has done it every night of his illustrious 17-year NBA career.

Sometimes fans get lucky and get the LeBron James extended edition when he delivers a show within a show, and randomly breaks out into dance. You have to pay attention, though, cause it can come out of the blue—pregame, during timeouts, or even right in the middle of the game.

Here are just a few times LeBron has shown off his dancing skills:

LeBron and family time

It’s quite clear James is a family guy. He’s revealed as much in the posts and videos he shares on his different social media. And that desire to spend time with his family has only intensified since the death of his friend and Lakers legend Kobe Bryant in a helicopter accident

Last month James allowed fans a glimpse into his home life when he shared some of his family time in a video.

In the video, Lebron James and his 12-year-old son Bryce break out a dance on TikTok. James, a three-time NBA champion, three-time Finals MVP and four-time regular season MVP joked how he had finally made it. “I’m official,” James wrote in an Instagram story. “Bryce let me on his TikTok.”

Last week James shared another video. This one featured his entire family, including his youngest and a showstopper, five-year-old daughter Zhuri.

James specifically called out his daughter’s performance in his post. “My GANG GANG heavy hitters!! Especially the smallest one!”

It’s not the longest dance compared to some of the other videos, but it’s clear James has some dancing chops. And it begs the question—could LeBron appear on Dancing with the Stars?

Other athletes on Dancing With Stars

In the show’s 28 seasons, a total of 321 celebrities have appeared on the show. Many athletes have made appearances, including Jerry Rice, Floyd Mayweather Jr., Lawrence Taylor, as well as NBA players Rick Fox, Clyde Drexler, and Derek Fisher.

While not all athletes have been able to translate their athletic skill and coordination to the dance floor, numerous have found plenty of success and won their respective seasons, including NFL players Emmitt Smith, Hines Ward, and Donald Driver.

Through the years Dancing With the Stars has consistently embraced athletes. In 2018, the show devoted an entire season to athletes with a cast that included retired NBA star Kareem Abdul-Jabbar; retired baseball player Johnny Damon; Washington Redskins cornerback Josh Norman; and Notre Dame women’s basketball star Arike Ogunbowale.

With the success of previous athletes appearing plus Lebron’s penchant to bust a move, is there any question the NBA great will one day appear on the show? The better question is, will he win?
