How Much Is A Super Bowl Ring Worth? Cost, Value And How Many Rings Winning Teams Receive

Super Bowl rings are one of the most coveted prizes in all of sports and serve as a commemorative keepsake for players and team members to keep as a symbol of their historic triumph.
This is what the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles will compete for at Super Bowl 2025, at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on Sunday, February 9.
Not only will the victors be immortalised in the annals of NFL history but the victors will receive a ring which is often diamond encrusted – incorporating the winning team’s colors, name and logo.
How Much Does A Super Bowl Ring Cost?
The NFL contributes approximately $5,000-$7,000-per-ring for up to 150 rings for the team that emerges victorious in the Super Bowl.
Any cost incurred beyond that amount and the team has to foot the bill – which they usually do.
As reported by talkSPORT, the New England Patriots went all out with their Super Bowl ring from their triumph in 2015.
They gave players a ring with 205 diamonds which reportedly cost $5.475 million – an estimated $36,500-per-ring.
It also depends on how many rings that the organization’s owner decides to hand out.
Unsurprisingly the 53 players, coaches and team excecutive all receive rings – including practice squad players. But also behind-the-scenes staff and cheerleaders can also receive rings – should the owner decide.
Traditionally, players or coaches will receive a top-tier ring. Other members of staff might receive rings featuring lesser stones or faux diamonds at a lower price.
How Much Are Super Bowl Rings Worth?
Given how prestigious and rare they are, Super Bowl rings can often fetch way more than what they cost to make.
A number of people lucky to receive a Super Bowl ring in the past, have put them up for sale at an auction years after they receive them.
Lawrence Taylor’s Super Bowl XXV ring sold at an auction in 2012 for $230,401 – the record for a player’s ring.
The ultimate record is held by New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft who decided to auction off his ring, with proceeds going to the ‘All In Challenge’ – aiming to feed those in need during the Covid-19 pandemic.

His Super Bowl LI championship ring was auctioned off for $1,025,000 back in 2020.
Kraft’s third Super Bowl ring was gifted to Russian president Vladimir Putin during a visit to St Petersburg in 2005.
He said that he had given Putin the ring out of “respect and admiration” he had for the Russian people and Putin’s leadership. The ring from Super Bowl XXXIX is now on display in the Kremlin.
Which Player Has The Most NFL Rings?
Tom Brady holds the record for the player with the most Super Bowl rings.
He won six championships with the New England Patriots and one for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Next up is ex-San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys linebacker Charles Haley with five – all won between 1988 and 1995.
Then comes a long list of players with four Super Bowl rings. This includes a massive group of players who were part of the Pittsburgh Steelers dynasty in the 1970s.
The most recent players to reach four are Rob Gronkowski and Joe Thuney.
Thuney can become one of the three most decorated Super Bowl players of all time if he can get his fifth ring when the Chiefs take on the Eagles.
Bill Belichick has the most rings of any coach with eight between 1986 and 2018.
