How Much Do XFL Players Make?
Hoping the third time is a charm, the XFL returns in 2023 under new ownership, a group headlined by former WWE star and one of the highest-paid actors on the planet, Dwayne Johnson, who was a solid football player in his own right before joining the family business of professional wrestling.
But those suiting up in this latest edition of the XFL certainly shouldn’t expect to make Dwayne Johnson-type money. Truth be told, a lot of NFL players don’t bring in that kind of loot.
So exactly how much do XFL players make?
How much do XFL players make?
While some of the more experienced players in the league — specifically a few of the more high-profile quarterbacks, who could earn north of $250,000 — the vast majority of XFL players will fall under the standard salary structure for each of the league’s eight teams.
Under that structure, each player who participates in the five-week training camps will earn $800 per week.
The 51 players who make the roster will receive at least a one-year contract with a base salary of $59,000 and another $20,000 in additional benefits, which include health, dental, and vision insurance, as well as housing and meals.
The 45 players on an active XFL roster each week will receive an additional $5,000 game bonus, while the six inactive players will receive an extra $1,500. Players will also earn an extra $1,000 for a victory, a bonus that applies to all 50 rostered players, not just the 45 who are active.
While playoff and championship money has not yet been revealed, many are expecting the XFL to hand out bonuses of at least $50,000 per title-winning player, perhaps as an incentive to keep playing in the XFL instead of the USFL — if the NFL isn’t an option, of course.
