Jessica Pegula Is Pulling WTA Double Duty On Friday At 2025 Miami Open

Jessica Pegula’s best finish at the Miami Open was as the 2023 champion in women’s doubles with Coco Gauff. Though Gauff is not playing doubles at this year’s Miami Open, Jessica Pegula is.
She takes to the court on Friday for double duty. Her first match is with partner Ashlyn Krueger, fresh off her upset win over two-time Miami Open finalist Elena Rybakina in singles. Pegula and Krueger will face the sixth-seeded team of Irina Khromacheva and Anna Danilina. Both Pegula and Krueger and Khromacheva and Danilina were in the Indian Wells draw and were eliminated in the first round.

Following that match, she returns to the court to play Elise Mertens in her Round of 64 match.
Taylor Townsend, part of the World No. 1 doubles team with partner Katerina Siniakova, is also alive in singles and doubles. After winning two qualifying matches to get into the singles draw and two main draw singles matches, Townsend has already played a lot of tennis in Miami. Siniakova and Townsend take the court Friday for their first-round doubles match against Fanny Stollar and Alexandrova Panova.
Martina Navratilova is the only American player to win Miami Open singles and doubles titles in the same year in the first-ever Miami Open held in 1985. She also won mixed doubles in 1985, an event the Miami Open no longer has.
