I am a huge tennis fan, but there comes a point where there is too much tennis, and we are crossing that line regularly with the 11-month seasons for ATP and WTA players. Never is that more obvious than in the coming weeks.
Players have been speaking up loudly, to no avail, about too much tennis. It has created injuries, burnout, and arguably could shorten careers. Hopefully, common sense prevails soon because these athletes deserve a break that is not self-imposed where they have to worry about losing ranking points.

I hope the @atptour takes a long, hard look at these 2 week Masters (especially Toronto and Cincy) and figures out how to ensure the top players participate.
Sinner, Alcaraz and Draper are young. Djokovic you can’t blame and he’s sustained an injury. Draper isn’t playing Cincy…

The Exhausting August Tennis Calendar At A Glance
If you think the professional tennis player lives a glamorous life, take a look at what’s in store for him or her in the upcoming weeks.
Today, the Mubadala Citi Open women’s and men’s singles finals are happening in Washington, DC.
At the same time, opening round action at the Canadian National Bank Open in Montreal for the WTA and Toronto for the ATP is underway.
The National Bank Open is a WTA 1000 and ATP 1000 level tournament, the highest ranked tournament outside of the Grand Slams (Grand Slam winner gets 2000 points, NBO winner gets 1000 points). It is a 12 day tournament that runs until August 7.
On the same day as the National Bank Open finals, the Western & Southern Cincinnati Open begins. It runs from August 7 through August 18. This is another 12 day 1000-level tournament.
The US Open officially begins on August 25; however, the reimagined Mixed Doubles tournament starts on August 19. Top named players are expected to be in the draw. The US Open concludes on September 7.
This schedule is exhausting to read, how must it be to travel, train, and play through? WTA and ATP, please do something to preserve the players trying to live and compete in this environment.
