Randy Moss Was On Everyone’s Mind At Minnesota Vikings MNF Game

Hall of Fame wide receiver Randy Moss recently disclosed his battle with bile duct cancer after taking a leave of absence from his ESPN broadcasting duties. Moss, 47, is on everyone’s minds and hearts, especially in Minnesota, because he played for the Vikings from 1998 to 2004 and again for a brief second stint in 2010.

During the ESPN/ABC Monday Night Football broadcast from Minnesota on December 16, Moss was honored and mentioned multiple times.  In the pregame, his former teammates, Cris Carter and Jake Reed, held his jersey on the field.  Shouts of “Let’s Moss Cancer” were heard throughout.

Vikings’ wide-receiving greatness originated with Carter, Moss, and Reed. Carter and Moss are the top receivers (yards) in franchise history, and Reed, who is sixth.  Carter, Moss, and Reed have 12,283, 9,316, and 6,433 yards respectively.

Another member of the Vikings Mount Rushmore of wide receivers also gave Moss a shoutout during the game.  After scoring a touchdown, Justin Jefferson, fourth all-time with 7,142 yards, yelled into the camera, “We love you, Randy.”

The Minnesota Vikings tweeted the Carter and Reed ceremony.  Moss reacted by tweeting “LUV U ALL! #letsmosscancer.”

Moss has taken a leave of absence from his duties at ESPN.  He reported last week that he had a six-hour surgery, and chemotherapy and radiation are part of his treatment plan.

The Vikings went on to win the game 30-12.  They are 12-2 in 2024.
