WATCH Timberwolves Star Anthony Edwards Give His Jersey To Young Fan Who Was Celebrating His Birthday

Minnesota Timberwolves star guard Anthony Edwards gave a young fan a special birthday gift following Monday night’s 108-105 home loss to the Phoenix Suns.

Anthony Edwards Offers Jersey To Birthday Boy After Timberwolves Loss

As Edwards walked off the court toward the tunnel at Target Center, he noticed a young fan holding a birthday sign, so the three-time All-Star decided to take his jersey off and give it to the boy.

After receiving the jersey, the boy was heard yelling, “Thank you so much!”

It was not the first time Edwards gave his jersey away to a young fan.

Near the end of a 144-117 win over the Sacramento Kings on Nov. 9, he called out to a kid in the stands, then the fan came behind the Wolves’ bench shortly after to accept his jersey.

Edwards explained why he offers his jerseys to young fans after the game.

“I used to be at the game when Kevin Durant came to play Atlanta for OKC… I used to hope I could get a jersey, but I was always in the nosebleeds,” Edwards said.

“So just finding that one fan. He said he supports me a lot and he was super happy to get my attention, so I said I was going to give him my jersey tonight.”

Edwards Led Wolves In Scoring

In Minnesota’s loss to Phoenix, Edwards scored a game-high 40 points on 15-for-21 (71.4%) shooting from the field, and Julius Randle had 21 points on 7-of-11 (63.6%) shooting from the floor.

However, the rest of the Wolves’ top players struggled.

Naz Reid put up just six points on 2-for-12 (16.7%) shooting off the bench, while Jaden McDaniels and Donte DiVincenzo both went 1-for-7 (14.3%).

Meanwhile, Mark Williams led Phoenix to victory with 22 points and seven rebounds. Collin Gillespie also added 19 points and Dillon Brooks had 18 for the Suns, who never trailed by more than two points.

The Suns went on a 14-3 run to start the fourth quarter to take a 98-87 lead. Minnesota made it interesting and had a chance to tie, but McDaniels missed a 3-pointer with 3.7 seconds to play.

The Timberwolves visit the Golden State Warriors on Friday.
