With all of the uncertainty associated with the seeded and ranked players at the 2025 Wimbledon Championships, there is at least one person American tennis fans can rely on: Taylor Townsend. Townsend is the defending ladies doubles champion (with partner Katerina Siniakova). She and Siniakova have advanced in the draw.
Townsend is not stopping there. After losing the French Open mixed doubles final with partner Evan King, Townsend was also resolute that she will pursue a mixed doubles Grand Slam title. King and Townsend are also doing well on the Wimbledon grass.

Taylor Townsend Chases History After Rough Spring
Could Townsend possibly win two Grand Slam doubles titles in London this summer? There is a lot of tennis left to be played, but that would be an extraordinary feat that no American with a last name of Williams or Bryan accomplished in their Hall of Fame careers. Martina Navratilova completed the triple crown of singles, doubles, and mixed doubles titles at the 1987 US Open. Italian player Sara Errani just completed the ladies and mixed doubles sweep at the 2025 French Open.
It is worth noting that her doubles partner, Katerina Siniakova, is also still in the draw for mixed doubles.
Townsend’s season started off in terrific fashion by winning the 2025 Australian Open mixed doubles with Siniakova, their second Grand Slam in a six month span. However, she was sidelined in the spring after falling on the court in the Miami Open quarterfinals and suffering a concussion. Townsend returned to play in the semifinals not realizing the severity of her condition.
