Saquon Barkley ruffled a lot of feathers during free agency with his decision to leave the New York Giants for their NFC East rival, the Philadelphia Eagles. He is ready to prove the haters wrong!

The 27-year-old running back is looking lean and mean during the offseason.

This, of course, is nothing new. Barkley has always been jacked. His eye-popping workouts have gone viral since his days at Penn State.

However, he looks much slimmer and more defined than ever before. Especially the former.

Barkley was listed at 6-foot-0, 232 pounds last year. That second number does not seem to reflect his current weight. He is cut, but not big.

Perhaps this is part of a larger plan to ensure that he can stay healthy in Philadelphia. Perhaps it is so early in the NFL offseason that he is still working up to ideal playing weight. Maybe it’s an illusion.

Whatever might be true, Barkley looks much thinner than in years past.

The apparent weight loss did not impact his superhuman strength! He still put up big weight on the deadlift.

Barkley ran for 962 yards on 247 carries in just 14 games last season. The Giants were without him for four weeks in the middle of the year, which continued a concerning injury trend that began during his second season. The Eagles will hope that his body transformation will help him find an extra level of explosiveness in the open field and actually keep him on the field.

Keep an eye on Philadelphia’s roster. It is going to be interesting to see if Barkley is listed at a lighter weight than he was a year ago. The former No. overall pick has not played below 230 since high school. If the plan is to lighten up for his first year with his new team, we will find out during NFL training camp!
