As incredible as the “We Believe” Warriors’ upset over the Dallas Mavericks in the 2007 NBA playoffs was, the celebration afterward was even more epic. Stephen Jackson and Matt Barnes recently told the story of the team partying with Woody Harrelson, Owen Wilson, Kate Hudson, and Jessica Alba after the historic series win. Even Snoop Dogg made an appearance. After a night of smoking marijuana with the rap legend, Jackson and Barnes almost got themselves in serious trouble.

The “We Believe” Warriors beat the Mavericks in historic 2007 upset

In the 2007 NBA playoffs, the Mavericks were the undisputed favorite to come out of the Western Conference. Dallas went 67-15 in the regular season and easily scored the No. 1 seed in the West.

The Warriors stole the No. 8 seed with a mediocre 42-40 record the same season. Golden State only snuck into the playoffs by winning nine of its last 10 games. The Mavericks were huge favorites in the series, and no one even gave the Warriors a chance.

No one except the Warriors themselves. Golden State started using “We Believe” as the team slogan, and that belief translated into a historic upset win. The Warriors went on to beat the Mavericks in six games, becoming the first No. 8 seed to ever beat a No. 1 seed in a seven-game series in NBA history.

That called for a celebration.

Stephen Jackson and Matt Barnes partied with A-list celebrities after the Game 6 win

Stephen Jackson and Matt Barnes, two players on the Warriors at the time, later started their own podcast called ‘All the Smoke.’ In a recent episode, the duo talked about the team’s celebration after the series win.

Following the Game 6 win, some of the players went back to Jackson’s house to celebrate. Baron Davis, the leading scorer on the Warriors in 2007, even brought a few celebrity friends. He showed up with Owen Wilson, Kate Hudson, and Jessica Alba.

After a bit of smoking and drinking at Jackson’s home, the group went upstairs to head coach Don Nelson‘s penthouse. There, Woody Harrelson was in a back room rolling joints.

The night ended with Snoop Dogg at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in San Fransico.

Jackson and Barnes almost got caught smoking weed with Snoop Dogg

Stephen Jackson and Matt Barnes went from Don Nelson’s penthouse to Snoop Dogg’s hotel room at the Ritz-Carlton. Immediately, Snoop pulled out a bag of weed and started rolling blunts.

Barnes called it “the most epic smoking session ever.” After smoking, the group ordered room service from the hotel. The hotel employees clearly noticed the smoked-out room when they arrived, so Jackson and Barnes started to worry.

The Warriors still had another round of the playoffs to prepare for. If Jackson and Barnes got in trouble for smoking marijuana, it would jeopardize their chances to play against the Jazz.

Instead of scolding Snoop and the players for smelling up the room, they opened the windows and congratulated Jackson and Barnes for the win before leaving the room. Apparently Snoop Dogg can smoke whenever and wherever he wants, and whoever is with him is immune from the law too.
