Manchester United have been hit with online backlash after the club announced hugely controversial plans to cut the club’s disabled supporters association funding in half.

In a cost-cutting measure, United are understood to be trimming the outlay from £40,000-a-year down to £20,000. Naturally, fans have been left stunned.

Although they are just plans at this stage, that hasn’t stopped users on X, formerly Twitter from voicing their concerns. Admittedly, most of the comments blasted the club.

Since Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS took over the global giants earlier this year, they have consistently looked at ways to save on finances. With the MUDSA budget being brainstormed as a potential cash-saver.

Redundancies Already Made At Old Trafford

Already at Old Trafford, around 250 redundancies have been made to staff behind the scenes in M16. Even that business measure raised eyebrows across the football world.

That move was made with the Premier League‘s compliance of spending rules in mind. Now the MUDSA is being targeted so the club can continue to use finances on player transfers and wages.

That in itself is one of the main reasons many have blasted the global giants. Even more so when United posted record revenues of over £660 million in the summer.

An anonymous club insider had plenty to say on the matter. They explained how horrific the potential decision is. Subsequently, highlighting how the club has lost touch with its loyal fanbase.

“This is nothing short of a disgrace. The figures they are talking about are a drop in the ocean and the optics would be horrific.

“It feels like the club has lost touch with its soul. The disabled supporters’ club has always been a big part of Manchester United and when you see how much money is being wasted on paying off managers and bringing in players who aren’t good enough, something like this will be very difficult to justify.”

Naturally, when the news broke – the club was riddled with anguish. Additionally, one user explained the proposal is ‘disgusting.’ Scroll down for the reactions.
