Former Owls Boss Rohl Favourite For Rangers Job

Danny Rohl

In what could be a sensational U-turn, Danny Röhl is back as the 8/11 favourite to take over at Ibrox after pulling out of contention last week.

Röhl did an impressive job rescuing Sheffield Wednesday from relegation, turning around a struggling side when he arrived in late 2023. Following a fallout with the Owls’ ownership, he left the club this summer. Now a free agent, he’s seen as an appealing candidate for Rangers.

Could Gers Call On Manchester United Legend Ole Gunnar Solskjær?

Having recently parted ways with Beşiktaş, Ole Gunnar Solskjær is now firmly in the frame for the vacant Rangers job.

Traders at SportsCasting have the former Manchester United boss priced at 5/1, making him the second favourite to take over at Ibrox.

Solskjær has remained out of the British managerial spotlight since his time at Old Trafford, but his top-flight experience and composed leadership style make him a compelling candidate. While his recent spell in Turkey ended prematurely, his record in England — including two top-four finishes with United — keeps him in the conversation.

With Rangers aiming to return to the top of Scottish football and push for European success, Solskjær may see this as a strong opportunity to rebuild his career at a high-profile club.

Solskjær is also considered to be a leading contender to the the next Wolves manager.

Former Hammers Boss Bilic Firmly In Contention For Rangers Job

The SportsCasting traders have Slaven Bilić as the 6/1 third favourite to replace Russell Martin at Rangers.

Bilić has been out in Saudi Arabia with Al-Fateh, but back in the UK, he’s probably still best remembered for that strong season with West Ham, when he led them to 7th in their final year at Upton Park.

Before that, he took charge of West Brom, guiding them to promotion in 2020 — although he didn’t last long in the Premier League. He also had a short spell at Watford in 2022–23, which didn’t quite go to plan.

On the international front, he managed Croatia and took them to the Euro 2008 quarter-finals. So while his recent record is mixed, Bilić clearly brings experience — and his strong personality in the dugout could appeal to Rangers fans looking for a bit of fire and leadership.

Commentary: SportsCasting spokesman Shane Orton reacted to the ‘Next Rangers Manager Betting Odds’ saying:

“Danny Röhl is the favourite to take over at Rangers. He impressed by steering Sheffield Wednesday clear of relegation last season and is now a free agent following a fallout with the club’s owners. His recent success and availability make him an attractive candidate for Ibrox.”

“Ole Gunnar Solskjær is next in line. The Manchester United legend led the club to two top-four finishes during his time in charge. Although his spell at Beşiktaş was less successful, his knowledge of British football could help bring stability to Rangers.”

“Slaven Bilić rounds out the top three. Known for his passionate and no-nonsense approach, he has significant managerial experience both in England and abroad and could offer the toughness Rangers need.”
