Watch the shocking video of Sir Jim Ratcliffe being verbally abused by furious Manchester United supporters on Sunday night.
Ratcliffe was in attendance at Craven Cottage as the Red Devils picked up a slender 1-0 win in west London thanks to Lisandro Martinez’s deflected winner.
Footage has been circling on social media showing Red Devils fans making their feelings clear towards the club’s minority owner.
Many have been left outraged by Ratcliffe and INEOS’ handling of raised ticket prices. In December, it was announced the cheapest seat at Old Trafford would cost a staggering £66.
Furthermore, Ratcliffe has been blasted after making a number of changes since completing his takeover in 2023. Many of which have angered loyal supporters.
Ratcliffe’s controversial decisions include axing legendary former boss Sir Alex Ferguson as global ambassador and making 250 staff members redundant.
Furthermore, the 2024 Christmas party was binned and there were also proposals to cut the club’s disabled supporters association funding in half.
There has also been issues with the leaky roof at Old Trafford, a reported mice infestation inside food kiosks and the sacking of sporting director Dan Ashworth. That occurred just five months into his tenure.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe Verbally Abused By Man United Supporters
Naturally, Sir Jim Ratcliffe has so far failed to endear himself to Man United’s loyal fan base. Especially as performances on the pitch have not improved since his takeover.
Of all the questionable decisions Britain’s richest man has made so far, the hike in ticket prices is the one most sorely felt. Especially after it was decided mid-season.
During November’s Premier League game against Everton, thousands of fans gathered outside Old Trafford to protest about the cost increase. Additionally, the rise in tickets offered no concessions for children and pensioners.
Ratcliffe defended the move a few days after the 4-0 win against the Toffees: “I don’t think it makes sense for a Manchester United ticket to cost less than a ticket to see Fulham.
“I don’t want to end up in a position where the genuine local fans can’t afford to come, but I do want to optimise the ticketing. We need to find a balance. And you can’t be popular all the time either.”
At Craven Cottage on Sunday, a number of supporters seized their opportunity to let their feelings be known. Whether it may have been considered too explicit or not.
“£66… you are taking the f****** p*** mate,” one supporter shouted while another weighed in: “What are you doing, mate? We’re northerners. Come on, sort it out.
“Our prices should be a third of Fulham’s.” could also be heard amongst other expletives and complaints. The last of which included: “F*** you Jim Ratcliffe, f*** you!”
