Watch France Vs Wales highlights as the hosts thumped Wales at the Stade de France in Friday night’s Guinness Six Nations opener.
French skipper Antoine Dupont led from the front as Les Bleus ran in seven tries to inflict a record Six Nations defeat on the Welsh in Paris.
Warren Gatland’s side were utterly outclassed from start to finish, and never truly threatened the French line.
Such was France’s dominance that Dupont was taken off just nine minutes into the second half.
But there was one huge disappointment for the hosts. Fly-half Romain Ntamack looks set for a lengthy ban after being sent off for a high shot on opposite number Ben Thomas in the closing stages.
France led 28-0 at half-time thanks to a pair of tries each from wingers Theo Attisogbe and Louis Bielle-Biarrey.
These scores were followed after the break by tries for number eight Gregory Alldritt and replacements Julien Marchand and Emilien Gailleton.
Fullback Thomas Ramos added four conversions to inflict further damage on Wales.
In addition to the humiliating loss, Wales centre Owen Watkin limped off with what appeared to be a serious knee injury.
Number eight Aaron Wainwright was also taken off in the first half with a facial injury.
Watch: France Vs Wales Highlights
The loss makes continues Wales’ record run of consecutive losses. They have now lost 13 on the bounce since beating Georgia in October 2023.
It is also the heaviest defeat Wales have suffered against France in the Six Nations era.
They have not been nilled by the French since losing 51-0 in the 1998 Five Nations.
And Wales have never failed to score a point in any Six Nations game – until now.
Unsurprisingly, Wales end the weekend bottom of the Six Nations table.
France, meanwhile, are top after round one and will go into next week’s clash with England at Twickenham full of confidence.
For Wales, it’s a daunting trip to Rome to face an Italy side who will be confident and fired-up.
Lose on Saturday, and things could get very ugly for the Welsh.
