The DP World Tour heads to South Africa for this year’s Joburg Open, with a whole host of European Tour stars heading to Johannesburg this week. Join us as we assess the 2025 Joburg Open prize money on offer and full purse breakdown.
Below we have outlined the FULL purse breakdown for all 65 golfers who make the cut this week at Houghton Golf Club. Any player who misses the cut won’t earn anything in prize money, with the full purse split between the 65 players who make the weekend.
$1.1 Million Purse On Offer At The 2025 Joburg Open
Although the Arnold Palmer Invitational is the biggest and most lucrative event in the world of professional golf this week on the PGA Tour, the DP World Tour has a stellar event too.
This week’s Joburg Open event in Johannesburg, South Africa sees the return of the golf event after no tournament last year. Two years ago, it was South African Dean Burmester who reigned supreme at the Joburg Open, winning on a score of -18.
This year, after a one year hiatus, some of the best players across the DP World Tour are set to battle it out for Joburg Open glory. Some of the biggest names and most consistent performers from the DP World Tour feature, looking to be in contention come Sunday.
Although the 2025 Joburg Open isn’t one of the biggest European Tour tournaments, it still has a decent purse and prize money on offer. With that in mind, the Joburg Open field will be battling it out for a share of the $1.1 million (R20,500,000) overall prize pot.
Houghton Golf Club is of course one of the great Jack Nicklaus Signature courses, making the Joburg Open that little bit more appealing too.
The likes of Jayden Schaper, Shaun Norris, Jordan Smith and John Parry currently lead the market with the best UK golf betting sites.
This week presents some lower ranked players with a great opportunity at DP World Tour success, with the likes of Rory McIlroy, Ludvig Aberg and Tommy Fleetwood just some of the European golfers opting to play in the Arnold Palmer Invitational over in America instead.
All the action gets underway on Thursday 6th March, with the 2025 Joburg Open taking centre stage this week on the DP World Tour. Who will lift the coveted trophy come Sunday after 72 holes?
The Prize Money For The Joburg Open Winner Is $190,000
Whoever goes on to lift the trophy come Sunday will be in for a bumper payday and large share of the 2025 Joburg Open prize money pot.
Whoever clinches victory come Sunday will leave Houghton GC with around $190,000 extra in the bank, with the runner-up also pocketing $123k. This purse is of course dwarfed by that of the Arnold Palmer Invitational prize money this week, but it is still mouth-watering cash for some lesser ranked players.
Even the player that finishes inside 65th, the last of the paid players, will be guaranteed a payday of at least $2,690. Not bad for four days of work, even if it is a small amount compared to the PGA Tour.
Below is a table outlining the FULL 2025 Joburg Open prize money and purse breakdown. Each of the players will be battling it out to win a large share of the purse, as well as being crowned champion at Jack Nicklaus’ Signature course in South Africa.
