Hit Show landed the spoils in the hands of Florent Geroux in a shock result of the third-richest race on planet earth, springing an 80/1 winner with a 33/1 second.
Odds-on favourite Forever Young failed to back up his Saudi Cup heroics, struggling to pick up round the turn before staying on well for a bronze medal.
Runner-up Mixto secured a 1-2 for the USA under Frankie Dettori whose mount locked into battle with Walk Of Stars down the stretch – but after fighting off that challenge, Hit Show came with a dramatic late run over the top to steal the win.
In the colours of Wathnan Racing, Hit Show was bred by Gary and Mary West Stables in Lexington, Kentucky who owned two Breeders’ Cup Juvenile winners in New Year’s Day (2013) and Game Winner (2018).
The Dubai World Cup meeting proved a bloodbath for punters after 11/10 favourite Calandagan was beaten in the Sheema Classic and 2/5 favourite Romantic Warrior went down by a nose in the Dubai Turf.
