Premier League legend Rio Ferdinand has named four signings Manchester United must pull off in the summer transfer window.
The former centre-back, who won it all with the Red Devils, believes his old club need to sign a central midfielder, a pair of attackers, and an offensively gifted right-back in the summer transfer window.
Manchester United have been in shambles this season. The 20-time English champions only have 38 points to their name after 31 rounds of fixtures. They are toiling in 13th place in the Premier League rankings, sitting 15 points behind fourth-ranked Chelsea. The UEFA Europa League is their only shot at securing Champions League football for next season.
Rio Ferdinand Names 4 Signings Manchester United Must Make
Ferdinand believes the Red Devils need to re-jig their squad in the summer and advised them to make four key signings.
On his Rio Ferdinand Present channel, the Englishman began (via talkSPORT):
“I think they need four or five players, but they will be constrained by PSR.
“I want a centre midfielder to play alongside (Manuel) Ugarte, that player needs to be able to take the ball and transfer it through to Bruno and the strikers. And you know who I’d go for? Adam Wharton.”
Wharton moved to Crystal Palace from Blackburn Rovers for a £22 million fee last year. His stellar showings for the Eagles have made him a hot prospect, with sources claiming he could cost as much as £70 million.

Ferdinand then named a couple of attackers he would bring to the club, starting with:
“[Victor] Osimhen. And I know, sorry Napoli and Galatasaray, if I’m Man United, Osimhen comes to Man United next year, I’m making it happen.
“Another one I’d go and buy is Cunha. He’s made it clear that he wants to leave, so I’d go and get Cunha.”
Osimhen, who was on Chelsea’s radar last summer, has a £65 million release clause. Cunha, meanwhile, has a £62.5 million clause with Wolverhampton Wanderers.
He capped off his wishlist with one of the best right-wing backs in the business.
“You know who else I’d go and get? [Jeremie] Frimpong at right wing back,” concluded Ferdinand.
Frimpong, who put in a remarkable shift as Bayer Leverkusen won the Bundesliga without losing a single match last season, had a £33.5 million release clause. Since the clause expired last summer, Manchester United must shell out a much more sizable fee to complete the Dutchman’s signing.
