Ipswich starlet Liam Delap prefers move to Chelsea or Arsenal over Manchester United

Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap reportedly prefers a move to Chelsea or Arsenal than joining Manchester United in the summer transfer window.

Liam Delap transfer news: London calling for 22-year-old Ipswich striker

The Daily Star are reporting Delap has reservations about joining the Red Devils in the summer and if given a choice, he’d rather stay in the south and play for Chelsea or Arsenal next season.

The 22-year-old has risen to stardom with Ipswich, netting 12 times in 31 Premier League appearances and providing a shining light as the Tractor Boys look braced for relegation back to the Championship.

Delap joined Ipswich in a deal worth up to £20 million last July from Manchester City, who he joined in 2019 before rising through the youth ranks and going on to make six appearances for the club.

He impressed in loan spells at Stoke City, Preston North End and most recently Hull City which earned him the move to Portman Road but Delap looks set for bigger and better things moving forward.

If Ipswich are relegated from the top flight – for which they are as short as 1/250 with bookmakers – Delap has a £30 million release clause in his contract and England’s top dogs will undoubtedly act quickly to try and secure his services.

Manchester United believe they are the biggest player in the race to sign Delap as Ruben Amorim looks to add some desperately needed goals to his frontline amid disappointment from Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee.

Talk over a move for Sporting Lisbon’s 26-year-old marksman Viktor Gyokeres has gone cold as United seemingly prefer to target a younger striker who can develop on a friendlier budget.

Chelsea will hold great interest to upgrade on Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku while Arsenal are also in the mix, who don’t have an out-and-out number nine in their squad when Gabriel Jesus is injured.
