Liverpool fans have mocked former player Trent Alexander-Arnold after he cut a frustrating figure in his Real Madrid debut at the FIFA Club World Cup.
Los Blancos drew 1-1 with Al Hilal in their Club World Cup opener on Wednesday, June 18. It ended their 11-game winning streak in the tournament, inclusive of the old format.
Gonzalo Garcia scored for Los Blancos before Ruben Neves equalised from the spot. Fede Valverde had a chance to win the game for Madrid in the 90th minute as the Spanish side won a controversial penalty. The Uruguayan, however, took a poor spot-kick, allowing Yassine Bounou to make a save.
Alexander-Arnold played as a right-back in a 4-2-1-3 system on his debut. The England international lacked confidence and direction, barely making a mark before coming off in the 68th minute.

Liverpool academy graduate Trent Alexander-Arnold joined Real Madrid earlier in June. He did not extend his contract with the Reds and nearly ran it down before Los Blancos paid £8.4 million for his early release.
A large section of Liverpool fans were already critical of Alexander-Arnold’s switch to Spain. Their dismay turned to anger after Alexander-Arnold spoke fluent Spanish at his Real Madrid presentation, suggesting the move was a long time in the making. So, after his unremarkable debut, they were out in numbers, taking jabs at their two-time Premier League winner.

Alexander-Arnold got a lot of flak for his defending during his Liverpool days. The 26-year-old has started a fresh chapter in Spain, sporting a new name and number — ‘Trent’, ’12’. After he only managed to win one duel in his debut for Real Madrid, haters were quick to mock his defending skills.

Al Hilal left-winger Salem Al-Dawsari and left-back Renan Lodi outpaced Alexander-Arnold in the Club World Cup meeting between Real Madrid and Al Hilal. Unsurprisingly, the England international suffered brutal mockery for that as well.
