Finn Russell Bath Contract

Scotland skipper and British and Irish Lions star Finn Russell has signed a new three-year contract with Bath.

The mercurial fly-half, 32, played a crucial role as Bath won the Premiership title this season.

Russell kicked 13 points in the final and intercepted Handre Pollard’s pass to set up a try for Max Ojomoh against Leicester Tigers at Twickenham.

Bath lifted their first league title in 29 years, and completed a superb treble with further triumphs.

They also won the Premiership Cup and European Challenge Cup to mark an incredible season.

Russell has been vital for Bath’s recent revival. The Scot has played 45 times since joining in 2023 from French side Racing 92.

In that time, he’s scored 420 points and become the focal point of Johann van Graan’s side.

Finn Russell Bath Contract Decision An Easy One

Speaking via Bath’s website, Russell said: “I have loved my time here at Bath. It’s a great team and a great club.

“We’ve come a long way over the last couple of years, and I am really looking forward to staying here and seeing what the club can achieve.

“The fans have been outstanding since I got here. We’ve had some big results at home, and that’s just our way of giving back to the fans and trying to represent them in the right way.”

Russell has been a revelation at Bath and kicked 183 points in the Premiership alone this season.

One of the biggest names in the league, his decision to stay at Bath is a major boost.

Former England captain Owen Farrell’s Saracens return was also confirmed this week, while high-profile 10’s George Ford and Marcus Smith have both turned down big-money moves to stay in England.

And Russell says Bath are just getting started as they look to defend their crown next season.

“The way the club is developing and with the young players coming through, the belief and confidence that we’ve got week-to-week is just growing,” Russell added.

“There are some brilliant new signings coming in as well who will be great additions to the club, and I can’t wait to get started next season.”

How Much Does Finn Russell Earn?

Finn Russell is known to be among the highest paid rugby players in the world.

He reportedly earns around ยฃ1 million a year at Bath. That’s because Russell is the Somerset club’s designated ‘marquee’ player.

This means his salary is not counted towards the ยฃ6.4 million cap that Premiership clubs must obey.

And Bath bossย Johann van Graan says he is worth every penny.

Van Graan said: “It’s amazing news. Finn is one of the world’s best 10s, a player who performs in the big moments and more importantly he’s an incredible team man and a family man.

“He is one of the lads, his training is exceptional, and he’s added so much to our group.

“It’s great that he’ll be staying on at Bath Rugby and continuing his journey with the Blue, Black and White.”

Who Owns Bath Rugby?

One of the reasons Bath can afford to pay such big money for Russell is the club’s owner.

English businessman Bruce Craig bought Bath in 2010, acquiring as 100% stake.

A keen rugby fan and former player, Craig played for Racing 92 from 1987-1993.

The 63-year-old admitted in 2024 that he had no idea how much money he had put into the club over the years.

But with a net worth of over ยฃ300 million, we’re sure he’s got plenty left.

Craig has made clear his intentions to take Bath to the top of European rugby, and has laid out plans to build a new 18,000-seater stadium to replace the Recreation Ground.
