Liverpool have reportedly entered the race for Sporting CP forward and Swedish international, Viktor Gyokeres.
The 27-year-old is a long-time target of both Arsenal and Manchester United.
But it appears that Premier League champions Liverpool are also now pursuing a deal.
With reports suggesting Arne Slot’s side have failed to lure Alexander Isak away from Newcastle, attention seems to be turning to fellow Swede Gyokeres.
Newcastle have offered Isak a club-record wage, and are willing to pay him £200,000 per week to keep him on Tyneside.
Reds boss Slot is thought to be a big admirer of Gyokeres, and is desperate to bring in a top-level forward over the summer.
Viktor Gyokeres Liverpool Rumours Gather Momentum
As a result of Isak looking unlikely to join Liverpool, reports of interest in Gyokeres are intensifying.
The £60 million-rated former Coventry City man has scored an incredible 97 goals in 102 games for Sporting.
He was Manchester United’s top target at one stage, with former Sporting boss Ruben Amorim keen to reunite with the player.
But with United missing out on European football, interest from Gyokeres’ side has lessened.
The Swede is reportedly furious with Sporting president Frederico Varandas.
Gyokeres has an £85 million release clause, but has threatened to no-show pre-season training if the club do not sell him for less.

Viktor Gyokeres Arsenal Move More Likely
So far this summer, Arsenal have been the frontrunners for Gyokeres’ signature.
That remains the case, despite the Gunners seeing a £55.3m bid rejected by the Portuguese side.
Arsenal are expected to return with a second offer, but now face competition from Liverpool.
Reds striker Darwin Nunez is set to join Napoli for £42 million, freeing up funds and an attacking spot at Anfield.
And despite being reluctant to sell, Sporting appear to have lined up a replacement for Gyokeres.
Almeria’s Luis Javier Suarez has been reported as the club’s top target should their star man depart.
