Links golf and checking playing conditions often go hand-in-hand, which is why the golfers and spectators will have one eye on The Open weather forecast at Portrush this week.Β
The Open Weather Forecast at Portrush Suggests Players and Spectators Should Pack A Brolly β
Despite the recent heatwave weather around Britain and Northern Ireland – the bad news for golf fans this week is they might not need the sunglasses at The Open.
This is because The Open weather forecast is telling us that there is likely to be some rain on ALL of the four days.
The action tees off at Portrush on Thursday 17th July and if the local predictions are anything to go by, then The Open weather forecast is saying well see plenty of the ‘wet stuff’ over the whole tournament.
There’s also been a lot of rain pre-tournament, with some fans taking to social media to show the pouring down at Portrush on Tuesday.
I live 45mins from the course. Thunder, lightning, and torrential rain right now. This is what we're in for this week, a mix of all of this and sunshine pic.twitter.com/5plnneRxMf

On a plus, it’s not going to be cold – with Portrush temperatures steady between 18-20 degrees all week. Plus the wind is on the gentle to light side.
However, Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler and co will certainly need to make sure they’ve a decent brolly, plenty of spare gloves and waterproofs are in the bag.

Where the Open Championship drinks prices will see a pint of Guinness costing Β£7.75.
Thursday 17th July 2025:
The opening day’s action could even see a clap of thunder, with forecasters saying there is a chance of some thunder and lightning in the Portrush area. This is due to a weak frontal system that is predicted to be heading to the region.

What About Any Wind At The Open Championship?
Despite some wet conditions expected, the better news for these links golfers is the wind seems minimal.
With just light or gentle breezes forecast.
But this could all change – as don’t forget the last time the Open was held at Portrush in 2019, the final day was a very windy affair.
