Manchester United Hoping To Free Up Funds By Selling Out-Of-Favour Star Back To Former Club

Manchester United forward Jadon Sancho could be heading back to Borussia Dortmund after it emerged the German side were in talks with the player.

Sancho’s career has stagnated since moving to Old Trafford in 2021.

Once one of the hottest young talents in Europe, he has fallen further and further down United’s pecking order.

Having spent most of the last two seasons on loan with Chelsea and his former club Dortmund, he seems destined for the exit.

Still only 25, Jadon Sancho has plenty of time to turn his career around.

But it’s clear that Manchester United is not the right club for him.

A Jadon Sancho Dortmund Return Could Suit Everyone

According to the latest reports, Borussia Dortmund are keen to bring Sancho back once more.

Sky Germany has stated that there is contact between BVB and Sancho, with the Bundesliga outfit closely monitoring his situation.

Sancho, who has already spent two spells at the Signal Iduna Park, is open to another return.

It is believed United would demand a fee of around £15 million, with Dortmund yet to decide if they will pursue a deal.

Sancho has struggled since moving from Dortmund to Manchester United.

But a move would likely suit all involved.

Sancho is a much-loved figure among the Dortmund fans. Upon his initial loan return, the winger said: “Ever since I came back, it’s felt like home.”

However, returning was not what many predicted for Sancho this summer.

Last month, football betting sites had Turkish club Fenerbahce as favourites to sign him, with Napoli and Juventus also frontrunners.

Fans React To Jadon Sancho Dortmund News

But while the player and clubs seem happy to strike up a deal, some fans are less enthused.

One Twitter (now X) user argued Sancho’s wages will be problematic, leading to a late loan deal being struck.

He said: “I am willing to bet that they will wait until the 31st of August & then take him on loan.

“Unfortunately Utd might have to say yes to It, just to get rid of his wages off the books.

“Since he isn’t going to play in the World Cup, we have zero leverage over the situation.”

Another United fan added: “Dortmund will bang on ad infinitum about “Sancho being home” and “he’s ours” yet will never pay a fair transfer fee for the privilege.

“Another set of time wasters.”

Jadon Sancho Stats

Since making the move to Old Trafford in 2021 for £73 million, Jadon Sancho has failed to live up to the hype.

The 25-year-old winger has scored just 12 goals in 83 total appearances, with six assists.

Comparatively, in his two spells at Dortmund, Sancho has managed 53 goals in 158 games.

He faired little better at Chelsea than at United, scoring five times in 41 matches.

Sancho returned from Stamford Bridge this summer, and partied at Wireless as Chelsea lifted the Club World Cup, along with former Blues teammates Noni Madueke and Carney Chukwuemeka

On the international stage, Sancho has 23 senior England caps, with three goals.
