The 2025 Wyndham Championship prize money on offer this week is $8.2m, rising by $300,000 from last year. The total Wyndham Championship purse has increased by $2.8m in just 10 years.
Below we have outlined the FULL purse breakdown for all 90 players who will earn some form of prize money at Sedgefield Country Club this week.
$8.2M Worth Of Wyndham Championship Prize Money On Offer This Week
This week sees the Wyndham Championship take centre-stage on the PGA Tour in what is the second regular PGA Tour event following the 153rd Open Championship at Royal Portrush a fortnight ago.
Last week it was Kurt Kitayama who reigned supreme at the 3m Open after Scottie Scheffler, who’s net worth recently hit $60m, had sealed victory a week prior to win The Open.
However, the world number one and three-time major champion will not be in action this week at Sedgefield as he enjoys a fortnight away from the golf course before the business end of the FedEx Cup season.
This week’s Wyndham Championship is the regular PGA Tour season finale before the FedEx Cup play-offs begin next week. Only 70 players will feature next week at the FedEx St Jude Championship, with the majority of the Wyndham Championship field trying to make the 70 at the last opportunity.
This means that the likes of career Grand Slam winner Rory McIlroy, Xander Schauffele, Justin Thomas, Ludvig Aberg and plenty of others are once again not in action at Sedgefield.
As a non-elevated PGA Tour event, the Wyndham Championship prize money is a lot smaller than some other tournaments. That being said, there is still a lucrative purse on offer, which will be split between the top 90 players in the field come Sunday.
In total, there is $8.2m in prize money up for grabs at the Wyndham Championship this week at Sedgefield Country Club. This sees an increase of $300,000 from last year, where the total prize pot was $7.9m. In fact, this is the fourth consecutive year that the Wyndham Championship prize money has increased.
Last year it was Aaron Rai who reigned supreme at the Wyndham Championship on a score of -18 par. This year, he aims to go back-to-back but it is Keegan Bradley, Matt Fitzpatrick, Ben Griffin, Hideki Matsuyama and Robert MacIntyre who golf betting sites have priced as the current market favourites.
Wyndham Championship Winners Purse Rises To $1,476,000
Whoever goes on to lift the trophy come Sunday will be in for a bumper payday and large share of the Wyndham Championship prize money pot for the 2025 showing of this PGA Tour event.
Whoever claims victory come Sunday evening will leave Sedgefield with an extra $1,476,000 in the bank, with the runner-up also pocketing a tidy $893,800.
This $8.2m purse is one of the smallest on the PGA Tour, completely dwarfed by the four majors and the eight elevated PGA Tour signature events. That being said, in the grand scheme of things the Wyndham Championship prize money is still highly lucrative.
Even the player that finishes in 90th place will be guaranteed a payday of $13,530. Not bad for four days of work! The higher up the leaderboard a player finishes, the more money they will earn – simple!
This comes after the 3M Open prize money increased for a fourth successive year. Ironically, this was by the same amount ($300,000) as the Wyndham Championship has the past four years too.
Wyndham Championship Prize Money Has Increased By $2.8M In The Last 10 Years
With the total prize pot for this year’s Wyndham Championship increasing to $8.2m, this means that there has been an increase of precisely $2.8m since Davis Love III won the event back in 2015.
There has been a steady rise in the total purse on offer at the Wyndham Championship over the years. Back in 2015 when Love III won the tournament on -17 par, he pocketed $972,000 for his success.
Now, the player that finishes first receives over half-a-million dollars more in prize money than this.
The prize pot started at $5m back in 2007 when it was first called the Wyndham Championship, and only increased by $800k in 10 years up to 2017. Since 2015, the Wyndham Championship purse has increased by at least $200k every year, with a $900,000 increase in 2022.
Since then, the Wyndham Championship prize money has increased steadily by $300,000 each and every year up to now. Expect the prize pot to increase once again next year, perhaps by another $300k to $8.5m in total.
