A football fan has reportedly been arrested for attempted manslaughter after a Feyenoord supporter was allegedly struck by a metal pole following their win over Fenerbahce on Wednesday.
Fan Arrested For Attempted Manslaughter Following Feyenoord vs Fenerbahce
According to Dutch reports, a football fan has been arrested for attempted manslaughter after a Feyenoord fan was allegedly struck on the head by a metal pole after their win over Fenerbahce.
The Champions League third qualifying round first leg clash, which took place on Wednesday evening in Rotterdam, ended 2-1 in favour of the Eredivisie outfit.
Robin van Persie’s side took the lead after just 19 minutes via a Mert Muldur own goal.
Fenerbahce struck back in the 86th minute, with former Manchester United midfielder Sofyan Amrabat drawing the Turkish giants level with a powerful finish off the underside of the bar.
Feyenoord, unfazed by the leveller, found a crucial winner in added time. Jordan Bos’ floated cross into the box found Anis Hadj-Moussa, and the talented Algeria international directed his header beyond İrfan Can Eğribayat into the bottom left-hand corner.

The pair meet for the second leg at Fenerbahce’s Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium in Istanbul next Tuesday, with football betting sites favouring Feyenoord to advance to the play-off round.
In the aftermath of the first leg encounter though, drama ensued outside De Kuip.
A video circulating on social media shows three men, one of whom looks to be wearing a Fenerbahce top, allegedly throwing a metal pole over a barrier separating home and away fans.
Standing on the other side of the barrier were stewards and Feyenoord fans.
One of the Feyenoord supporters was struck on the head by the pole and immediately fell to the ground. He had to be carried away from the area by fellow fans and stewards.
His condition is currently unknown.
The video also captures the three men on the other side of the fence walking away from the scene, seemingly unbeknownst to the damage that they had caused.
Dutch media report that one person has been arrested in connection with the assault, with the individual being suspected of attempted manslaughter, aggravated assault and public violence, as the police continue their investigation into the matter.
Additionally, a further 11 arrests were made following the game. These were due to possession of weapons (knives), setting off fireworks, public order disturbances and breaking house rules.
