With Friday’s Gameweek 1 deadline fast approaching, FPL players have smashed the record for opening Gameweek sign ups, with over 9.1 million accounts registered.
FPL Smash Gameweek 1 Sign Ups Record
As we approach the deadline for Gameweek 1 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL), players have smashed the record for the most account sign ups for an opening Gameweek.
Last year, 8.6 million accounts and squads were registered prior to the Gameweek 1 deadline.
At the time of writing (5pm), over 9.1 million have signed up for 2025-26, with thousands more expected to do so ahead of the league opener between Liverpool and Bournemouth tonight.
The Reds head into the clash as clear favourites among UK betting sites.
Around 7.5 million players had registered by 3am on Friday morning, meaning over 1.6 million have signed up in the following 14 hours, which is an average of around 115,000 per hour.
If sign ups continue at this rate, and the average will likely increase as we approach the deadline, there’s potential for over 9.25 million players to be registered in time for the new campaign.
In total, there were over 11 million players registered in FPL by the end of the 2024-25 season.
