Brighton and Fulham go head-to-head in one of three Premier League three o’clock kick-offs on Saturday, and our betting tips for the clash can be backed in a 9/2 bet builder.
Saturday’s Premier League opening weekend action continues with Fabian Hurzeler’s Brighton welcoming Marco Silva’s Fulham to the Amex, with kick-off scheduled for 15:00.
The Seagulls narrowly missed out on a European qualification position last term, finishing in eighth place in the table, while the Cottagers ended the campaign seven points behind in 11th.
Brighton have lost several first team stars over the summer, most notably Joao Pedro to Chelsea, Pervis Estupinan to AC Milan and Simon Adingra to Sunderland. Ireland international Evan Ferguson has also left, joining Roma on loan for the season.
In terms of arrivals, the south coast club have signed 18-year-old striker Charlampos Kostoulas, along with defenders Diego Coppola, Olivier Boscagli and Maxim De Cuyper. Additionally, 19-year-old winger Tom Watson has joined from Sunderland.
As for Fulham, there has been very little movement at Craven Cottage. The only signing they’ve made thus far is 34-year-old goalkeeper Benjamin Lecompte, who has joined from Montpellier.
According to UK betting sites, the hosts are clear favourites to seal three points in this one at around 10/11. Bookmakers rate the Cottagers’ chances of prevailing at a price of around 3/1.
Brighton vs Fulham Bet Builder Tips
- Brighton to Win @ 10/11
- Both Teams to Score – Yes @ 8/13
- Georginio Rutter to Score or Assist @ 6/5
Brighton to Win @ 10/11
Our first tip for Saturday afternoon’s Premier League opening day clash between Brighton and Fulham is to back the Seagulls to come out on top, priced at 10/11, as previously mentioned.
The south coast club are unbeaten in their last two home matches against the Cottagers and have been tough opponents to beat for anyone that has visited the Amex in recent years.
They also head into the clash looking well-prepared and sharp, having gone unbeaten throughout their pre-season campaign, beating the likes of Stoke, Las Palmas and Wolfsburg.
As for the visitors, their lack of activity in the transfer market doesn’t bode well for the campaign ahead. We can only see this one going one way, and that’s a Brighton victory.
Both Teams to Score – Yes @ 8/13
Brighton’s attacking style of play often leaves them open at the back, especially on the counter, and with the potential for a new-look backline, there could be some teething issues.
The likes of Raul Jimenez and Harry Wilson have looked threatening in pre-season, with the latter netting three in three, and they could well take advantage of these vulnerabilities.
This is why, while we expect the hosts to prevail, we don’t expect them to do so without conceding. Back both teams to score with leading bookmakers at a price of around 8/13.
Georginio Rutter to Score or Assist @ 6/5
With Joao Pedro out of the picture following his £60m move to Chelsea, Georginio Rutter will reportedly play a more prominent role under Hurzeler for the Seagulls this season.
The French forward impressed in pre-season, scoring twice — including a well-taken goal in the 2-1 win over Wolfsburg last time out, where he led the line effectively.
His ability to operate anywhere across the front three makes him a constant threat, whether arriving in the box or creating for teammates.
Given his form, likely starting spot in the opener against Fulham, and the freedom he’ll have in Brighton’s fluid attack, Rutter looks to be in a good position to register a goal contribution.
At around 6/5, the price offers solid value for a goal or an assist.
