Arsenal Women will look to extend their impressive start to the Women’s Super League (WSL) campaign when they visit West Ham United Women on Friday.

The European champions beat London City Lionesses 4-1 on Matchday 1 of the 2025/26 WSL season.

West Ham United Women, meanwhile, lost 1-0 to Tottenham Women. Spurs’ Bethany England scored from the penalty spot in the 86th minute to secure the win.

After Matchday 1, Arsenal Women are 2/1 with UK betting sites to win the WSL this season.

Dominant Win for Arsenal Women and Heartbreak for West Ham on GW 1

West Ham United Women succumbed to a narrow defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on opening day of the 2025/26 WSL season. Rehane Skinner’s side did well to limit Tottenham’s chances, with Spurs not registering a shot on target until Bethany England’s winning goal.

The best goalscoring opportunity for the Hammers fell to Seraina Piubel, who failed to turn in Viviane Asseyi’s cross just minutes into the second half. Piubel missed her mark in the first half as well, sending Verena Hanshaw’s cross over the bar.

While West Ham finished on the wrong side of the scoreline, Arsenal claimed a big win over the newly promoted London City Lionesses. The Gunners did not have the best of starts, as they gave away a penalty just past the 15-minute mark. Kosovare Asllani converted from the spot to fire the visitors into the lead.

Arsenal, however, did not let the early goal peg them back. Olivia Smith (29′) cancelled out Asllani’s effort, finding the net with an excellent strike from outside the box. Smith had three more efforts throughout the game, all coming close to hurting the Lionesses.

Following Smith’s lead, Chloe Kelly (45+2′), Stina Blackstenius (83′), and Frida Maanum (84′) scored one goal each to inflict a 4-1 defeat upon London City.

Arsenal are aiming to win their first WSL title since 2019, and it is crucial for them to get off to a rapid start to keep pace with Chelsea Women. The Blues, who are eyeing a seventh-consecutive title, beat Manchester City Women 2-1 on Matchday 1.

West Ham United Women vs Arsenal Women Prediction and Best Bet

West Ham United will come into the game as underdogs, and for good reason. Arsenal proved their mettle on Matchday 1, while the Hammers looked out of ideas against Spurs. Arsenal Women fought back from behind to claim a 4-1 win, whereas West Ham lost to a solitary Tottenham penalty.

We expect the Hammers to fight harder at home, but they do not look strong enough to bet Arsenal just yet.

Our prediction: West Ham Women 1-3 Arsenal Women

We had a cracker of a contest when the two teams met in the WSL. Arsenal got the result that day, securing a 4-3 victory. Over their last three meetings, they have produced 12 goals, hinting toward yet another high-scoring affair.

Best Bet: Game to Have 3.5 Goals – Yes @10/9
