Manchester City Women will be keen to register their first win of the 2025/26 Women’s Super League (WSL) season when they host Brighton & Hove Albion on Friday night.
Man City kicked off their season with arguably the toughest fixture of the season, facing Chelsea Women away from home. City caught a lucky break when Niamh Charles scored an own goal in the 70th minute.

Brighton & Hove Albion kicked off their 2025/26 WSL season with a 0-0 draw with Aston Villa at Broadfield Stadium last week. The Seagulls created their first chance of the game through Kiko Seike, who tried her luck from range. Villa goalkeeper, Sabrina D’Angelo, was perfectly positioned to collect it.
Fran Kirby had the ball in the back of the Villa net in the 17th minute, but the goal was ruled out for offside. Brighton found the woodwork twice in the second half, whereas Aston Villa’s Lynn Wilms also hit the frame of the goal.
It was a frustrating night for Brighton, who surely thought they deserved more from the game. Away at Man City, they must produce a much clinical performance to get something out of the game.
