Man City Women vs Brighton Women

Manchester City Women will be keen to register their first win of the 2025/26 Women’s Super League (WSL) season when they host Brighton & Hove Albion on Friday night.

Man City kicked off their season with arguably the toughest fixture of the season, facing Chelsea Women away from home. City caught a lucky break when Niamh Charles scored an own goal in the 70th minute.

The goal, however, could not spur a turnaround, and the Blues sealed a 2-1 win. Chelsea are 3/4 with football betting sites to defend their WSL crown this season.

Brighton & Hove Albion, meanwhile, had a better start on paper. They played out an entertaining, albeit goalless, draw with Aston Villa.

Manchester City Women Looking for First WSL Win at Home

After a tough start to their Women’s Super League campaign, Manchester City bring the party back to their home, the Joie Stadium. With fans expected to turn up in numbers, the Cityzens are hopeful of putting up a strong fight against a more favourable opponent.

New Man City manager Andree Jeglertz tinkered with the formation in the game against Chelsea. Although City ultimately missed out, they had their moments and were in the contest until the end. The hosts are likely to adopt a more aggressive style of play against Brighton, and try to get an early goal or two.

Brighton & Hove Albion kicked off their 2025/26 WSL season with a 0-0 draw with Aston Villa at Broadfield Stadium last week. The Seagulls created their first chance of the game through Kiko Seike, who tried her luck from range. Villa goalkeeper, Sabrina D’Angelo, was perfectly positioned to collect it.

Fran Kirby had the ball in the back of the Villa net in the 17th minute, but the goal was ruled out for offside. Brighton found the woodwork twice in the second half, whereas Aston Villa’s Lynn Wilms also hit the frame of the goal.

It was a frustrating night for Brighton, who surely thought they deserved more from the game. Away at Man City, they must produce a much clinical performance to get something out of the game.
