Former world heavyweight champion and baddest man on the planet Mike Tyson has given his Canelo Alvarez vs Terence Crawford pre-fight prediction.
The American has given a conflicting prediction for Canelo vs Crawford, acknowledging that what he wants to happen and what he thinks will happen is totally different.
Mike Tyson Gives Canelo Alvarez vs Terence Crawford Prediction
When it comes to boxing, it’s fair to say that Mike Tyson knows a thing or two. The former multi-time world heavyweight champion is no stranger to a big fight, having been in plenty of his own.
Tyson holds the record for being the youngest world heavyweight champion in history, having won his first world honours at just 20-years-old.
He then went on to fight a ‘who’s who’ of the heavyweight division, and is widely regarded as one of the best fighters to have ever laced up a pair of boxing gloves.
Tyson carried dynamite in both hands during his heyday, but still dabbles in boxing now too. ‘Iron Mike’ of course fought Jake Paul last year, and looks to be taking on fellow boxing legend Floyd Mayweather in an exhibition bout next year.
Given his performances in the ring, Tyson was regularly listed as a comprehensive favourite with boxing betting sites to beat every man put in front of him. Not only that, but he was usually expected to win via emphatic knockout too.
Being a firm favourite is something both Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez and Terence Crawford are used too, particularly the former. ‘Canelo’ has in fact been favourite in every single one of his 67 professional fights to date, bar his one against Mayweather.
This is no different for his clash with ‘Bud’ this weekend either, with the Mexican listed as the favourite to retain his undisputed world super-middleweight title belts at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas this weekend.
Mike Tyson agrees with price-setters on this occasions, and feels ‘Canelo’ will get the job done. That being said, ‘Iron Mike’ has revealed that he wants Crawford to win and will be cheering him on to victory.
Tyson: ‘I Want Crawford To Win’
Speaking in a recent interview with The Big Podcast, which is hosted by basketball legend Shaquille Neal, Mike Tyson gave a brutally honest assessment of the upcoming Canelo vs Crawford super-fight.
The former world heavyweight king and boxing legend has revealed that he will be cheering Crawford on to victory, backing him to become the first three-weight undisputed champion in boxing history.
Ultimately though, Tyson is finding it hard to envisage anything other than a ‘Canelo’ victory, despite wanting ‘Bud’ to get the job done:
“I want Crawford to win, but it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen.
“I would like for it to happen, [but] this guy [Alvarez] is a hard puncher. He’s a smart fighter. I want to see it,” concluded ‘Iron Mike’.
Tyson’s prediction is quite the opposite of our own Canelo vs Terence Crawford betting tips, whereby our boxing expert predicted a stoppage victory for the underdog.
Mike Tyson’s Canelo vs Crawford Prediction Priced @ 1/2 Odds
Terence Crawford’s next fight sees him listed as the 6/4 underdog to beat Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez this weekend in Las Vegas.
This comes as no surprise given the calibre of ‘Canelo’, who has ruled at super-middleweight for over four years now. The Mexican is priced at 1/2 to win the fight outright, which is what Mike Tyson is predicting.
Looking a little deeper at the latest odds, price-setters feel that the most likely outcome is for ‘Canelo’ to win on points. This is priced at 6/5, with the knockout set at just shy of 4/1 for the reigning undisputed 168-pound king.
Crawford is the underdog here, which is to be expected. He is stepping up a further two weight classes from light-middleweight, where he actually only competed once too.
‘Bud’ is a natural super-lightweight or welterweight, never mind fighting all the way up at super-middleweight. This could be one reason why he is the underdog here.
Crawford is priced at 11/5 to win on points, with a knockout in his favourite as big as 10/1. Although Mike Tyson wants his fellow American to get the job done, he can’t quite see it actually happening.
Both Crawford and Alvarez’s partners are set to be at ringside cheering their men on, but ‘Iron Mike’ feels it will be Canelo’s wife Fernanda who will be the one celebrating in the aftermath of the super-fight.
All eyes are on the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas for the biggest fight of the year. So, will Mike Tyson’s Canelo vs Crawford prediction come to fruition or not?
