ITV Horse Racing Tips: FIVE LIVE Races At Newmarket On Friday
There are a total of five races being shown LIVE on the ITV Racing schedule this Friday.
These include the Joel Stakes (3pm) and Rockfel Stakes (2:25pm) – both Group Two contests that this year have some exciting horses running, like the unbeaten pair Touleen and Zeus Olympios.
Andy Newton takes you through each of the Friday races – giving his Newmarket horse racing tips and 1-2-3 best bets.
He also has horse racing tips daily that give FOUR best bets in a Lucky 15, plus we highlight any horses that are running that won the same races last year.
Plus, you can follow Andy on his ‘X’ handle @NewtsDailyLays where he also picks out one horse each day to take on (lay) and follow him on The Final Furlong Podcast each week.

1:15 – Newmarket: Boylesports British EBF Rosemary Stakes (Listed Race) (Fillies & Mares) Cl1 (3yo+) 1m ITV
With 10 of the last 14 winners drawn in stalls 7 or lower this is against likely favourite Cajole in gate 13 for the Cheveley Park team – but trainer John Gosden does have a fair record in the race with three wins since 2015.
Sunfall was of interest here, but is now a non-runner – yet again. Not sure what is going on with this horse this season.
So that means the Billy Loughnane-ridden Elwateen (drawn 5), who was 7th in the Epsom Oaks and a fine 4th in the 1000 Guineas here back in May, is promoted.
This Dubawi 3 year-old filly takes a big step down in grade, having also been last seen running down the field in the G1 Falmouth in July.
Down to Listed level here will give her a much better chance and a repeat of her Guineas 4th over this CD would surely make this Saeed Bin Suroor runner hard to beat.
The consistent Royal Ascot Sandringham Stakes winner Never Let Go has been freshened up is another well-drawn in 2 and can hit the frame at worse too.

🥈NEVER LET GO
🥉CAJOLE
1:50 – Newmarket: Princess Royal Stakes (Sponsored By Boylesports) (Group 3) (Fillies & Mares) Cl1 (3yo+) 1m4f ITV
This has been another good race for the John Gosden team – winning four of the last 13 – and they are mob-handed again with Jane Temple, Understudy and Miss Justice.
Of that trio, jockey bookings suggest Understudy (Oisin Murphy) and Jane Temple (Robert Havlin) are their main players, with Colin Keane booked to ride Miss Justice.
Godolphin and Charlie Appleby have two as well and sticking with the jockey bookings theme – it seems the William Buick-ridden SPIRITED STYLE is preferred.
She was a nice winner here on the Newmarket July course in the summer – winning the Listed Aphrodite Stakes (Understudy 5th) – but flopped since in the German Oaks on softer ground.
The yard boasts a cracking overall 30% SR here at the track and a two-month break, plus a drop in grade can see her return to form.
Billy Loughnane rides the other Appleby runner Silent Love.
Of the rest, Revoir would have concerns over the trip after not looking to last out in the Epsom Oaks.
While Chorus is the only CD winner in the field and could be over-priced having run three fair races here in the past.

2:25 – Newmarket: Boylesports Home Of The Early Payout Rockfel Stakes (Group 2) (Fillies) Cl1 (2yo) 7f ITV
Cheekpieces are tried on May Hill Stakes flop Moon Target, but is still overlooked based on that average effort.
The Prettiest Star was eye-catching when winning on debut at Nottingham – but the form of that race has taken some knocks since.
So really this looks best left to expensive breeze-up purchase Zanthos and TOULEEN.
The pair met last time at Leicester, and it resulted in an easy 3 1/4 length win for Touleen.
So on the same terms it’s hard to anything other than the same result for this exciting Owen Burrows filly.
William Buick was deputising for the injured Jim Crowley that day and keeps the ride. A win here and her 6/1 Fillies’ Mile price will shorten further.
Of the rest, Sukanya looks the most interesting of those at bigger prices – having run second to the promising Diamond Necklace last time.
🥇TOULEEN
🥈ZANTHOS
🥉SUKANYA
3:00 – Newmarket: Boylesports Daily Racing Rewards Joel Stakes (Group 2) Cl1 (3yo+) 1m ITV
I was impressed with Zeus Olympios last time out when winning the G3 Superior Mile at Haydock – he was well-backed that day too and that win made it 3-3.
It’s hard to know where his ceiling might be and is certainly feared.
But OPERA BALLO has certainly caught the eye of many too – especially as he’s been winning well without really settling in his races.
The last two came in Listed races at Sandown and Newmarket (July) so this is a step up and some will argue that Zeus Olympios has already won at Group level.
But Godolphin seem to be taking their time with Opera Ballo and that is for a reason – they think he’s smart.
Those against him will probably also look to his only defeat coming here on the Rowley Mile, when 6th in the Craven Stakes in April – but did pull very hard that day.
He’ll need to settle better against this stronger opposition – but you feel connections would have done plenty of work on that during his 78-day break.
Of the rest, last year’s winner Prague can take the bronze.
🥇OPERA BALLO
🥈ZEUS OLYMPIOS
🥉PRAGUE
3:35 – Newmarket: Boylesports Smart Race Card Godolphin Stakes (Listed Race) Cl1 (3yo+) 1m4f ITV
It would be silly to ignore a Godolphin horse running in the ‘Godolphin Stakes’ – plus they’ve also won three of the last eight runnings.
Their entry this year is BY THE BOOK, who is a Frankel gelding that hasn’t been out since December.
He’s 2-2 though and done nothing wrong to date but is up from winning a Novice Stakes race at Chelmsford to a Listed race after 295 days off.
That said, he looks the one with the most improvement still to come and you feel connections would have had a few options for this race and the fact they’ve come down on him is interesting.
The betting suggests he’s fit and well though and despite being rated a massive 24lbs lower than Isle Of Jura is respected.
Isle Of Jura, who won the 2024 Hardwicke Stakes, hasn’t been out for 461 days but has won eight of his 13 career starts.
Fitness would still be the concern after such a long time off.
The versatile Burdett Road won this race 12 months ago so enters the mix too.
While the only other course winner is Eydon, who won the Aston Park Stakes last time at Newbury.
