Former UFC Bantamweight Champion Aljamain Sterling has given his UFC 320 prediction for the Magomed Ankalaev vs Alex Pereira rematch.
The #5 ranked featherweight contender is unsure who will be leaving the octagon with the UFC Light-Heavyweight Title wrapped around their waist in the UFC 320 main event.
Aljamain Sterling Gives UFC 320 Prediction For Magomed Ankalaev vs Alex Pereira Rematch
When it comes to MMA, it’s fair to say that Aljamain Sterling knows a thing or two. Sterling is of course a former UFC Bantamweight Champion, having held the 135-pound belt for over two years before losing it to Sean O’Malley.
After losing the belt, Sterling made the move up to featherweight, where he now competes. The 36-year-old is currently ranked at #5 at 145-pounds, and isn’t too far off earning a title shot at featherweight too.
The 36-year-old has won two of his three featherweight contest, having beaten Calvin Kattar and Brian Ortega and losing just to the #1 ranked Mosvar Evloev.
Sterling won his last fight in August, and has his sights firmly set on the 145-pound belt. With Alexander Volkanovski’s next fight not yet confirmed, Sterling is still holding hope that he could be granted the shot at the champion before the end of the year.
Having fought in several big fights of his own, ‘Funk Master’ is no stranger to a super-fight. With that in mind, Sterling has weighed-in with his pre-fight UFC 320 prediction for the next pay-per-view show.
Magomed Ankalaev vs Alex Pereira 2 headlines UFC 320, with ‘Aljo’ finding it difficult to pick a winner. The American feels the first fight was ‘weird’, making it difficult to predict what will happen in the rematch at UFC 320.
Although Pereira was comprehensively beaten in their first fight at UFC 313, Sterling isn’t writing him off at all. That goes for Ankalaev too, who the 36-year-old feels could be far better himself too and perhaps even win in more dominant fashion this time.
The #5 ranked featherweight contender feels that ‘Poatan’ just had an off night at UFC 313, but can’t say with any degree of confidence if he’ll avenge his loss or not.
Aljamain Sterling Unsure On UFC 320 Main Event With Indecisive Ankalaev vs Pereira 2 Prediction
Aljamain Sterling has sat on the fence when it comes to giving his UFC 320 prediction for the Magomed Ankalaev vs Alex Pereira rematch on October 4 in Las Vegas.
The #5 ranked featherweight contender believes that ‘Poatan’ had an off night back in March at UFC 313, but also feels that Ankalaev was far from his best on the night too, despite winning.
With that in mind, Sterling is finding it difficult to predict the main event of this bumper UFC 320 fight card. The American MMA star told MMA Crazy that he is unsure how the Ankalaev vs Pereira 2 match-up will play out:
“I don’t know, that fight was weird,” revealed the #5 ranked UFC featherweight contender and former 135-pound king.
“I felt like there was some burnout with Alex Pereira. Maybe that’s just me but I know as an athlete that competing that often, not taking any time off and going through those five round training camps with his style of fighting, it really wears on you.
“Mental, physically. I think it showed. He looked like he was just going through the motions. Ankalaev as well. He didn’t look like the best version of himself either so for them to have a rematch, it’s an intriguing one.
“I just hope it’s not the same tempo as the first fight because that’s not a very fun fight to watch,” concluded Sterling.
