Agit Kabayel Gives Anthony Joshua vs Arslanbek Makhmudov Prediction
After his one-sided victory over Dave Allen in their Sheffield heavyweight match-up, Arslanbek Makhmudov has his sights firmly set on a clash with Anthony Joshua.
Makhmudov beat ‘The White Rhino’ via unanimous decision in a fight he won comfortably. Following his victory over Allen, the Russian heavyweight has called for a clash with former two-time world heavyweight champion ‘AJ’.
Anthony Joshua’s record may now have four defeats on it, but boxing betting sites would still have him as a firm favourite to beat Makhmudov if the pair indeed fought next.
It remains to be seen whether this is the case or not, with Eddie Hearn eying a ring return for Joshua early in the New Year. It remains to be seen who Joshua will fight upon his return, but Makhmudov is certainly an option now.
Although ‘AJ’ would undoubtedly be a huge pre-fight favourite, not everyone thinks it would be a routine fight for the Brit. Undefeated heavyweight contender Agit Kabayel is one of those who feels the fight would be far closer than people might think.
Kabayel handed Makhmudov the first defeat of his career in December 2023, stopping the previously unbeaten Russian in four rounds.
The German heavyweight has also shared hundreds of rounds of sparring with Joshua, having been a mainstay during various of Joshua’s training camps over the years.
As a man who has shared the ring with both Joshua and Makhmudov, Kabayel feels the fight would be a close one. Not only does Kabayel think Joshua vs Makhmudov would be close, but he could even see ‘AJ’ losing.
In the aftermath of Makhmudov’s victory over Dave Allen, Agit Kabayel gave his Anthony Joshua vs Arslanbek Makhmudov prediction in interview with Boxing King Media.
‘It’s A Very Good Match-Up’ – Agit Kabayel Gives Joshua vs Makhmudov Prediction
Should Anthony Joshua vs Arslanbek Makhmudov happen next, Agit Kabayel has shared his thoughts on how he feels the match-up would play out.
The likes of Carl Frampton, Tony Bellew and Peter Fury were wrong with their Allen vs Makhmudov predictions last week, but Kabayel feels the 21-2 Russian heavyweight could cause ‘AJ’ some issues if they fought.
Although the 26-0 unbeaten heavyweight contender feels the fight would be close, he doesn’t think it’s a foregone conclusion that the former two-time world heavyweight king wins comfortably.
Kabayel agrees that Joshua would have to be favourite for the contest, but feels the match-up is also a good one from Makhmudov’s point of view:
“This fight is good for AJ and it’s good for Makhmudov,” Kabayel revealed to Boxing King Media in interview after Makhmudov’s victory over Dave Allen.
“AJ comes to the fight with a loss to Daniel Dubois. For him, it’s also a very good fight if he fights Makhmudov. I think this is a very close fight.
“This is not an easy fight for him [AJ]. We will see in the ring. I think for the boxing people, it’s a very good match-up,” concluded the 26-0 unbeaten heavyweight contender.
